Looking for demo Gadget projects for study

I was caught by surprise, not realizing Alihoopa had gone under when I updated Gadget yesterday, so was a bit bummed to see all the gadget projects that were formerly shared through it are now unavailable (atleast within the app). .. I like to study and learn from different advanced techniques that artists use.

I only saved a couple before the option vanished, but would love to find others. - unfortunately the current gadget cloud is apparently audio only, which is nice, but not quite as helpful to those ends. just wondering if anyone knows where I might find some demo projects? I’ve searched around on google and within alihoopa w/ no luck yet. Most of the public submissions on gadget/alihoopa seemed to be of Asian origin, so perhaps us westerns tend to be more guarded with our creative bag of tricks ;)

  • wait, the Alihoopa sharing thing for Gadget is GONE? that was just added this year! They dont have any other easy way to share their iOS projects. Thats the number 1 complaint I have about Korg. Ive spent a considerable amount of time trying to import projects and Alihoopa was the only way I could figure it out without a bunch of messed up timing adjustments / issues

  • This won't answer your question about where to find demo projects, but it could be helpful to know that there is a way to share Gadget projects using only your iOS device. It's a workaround, but it's not too complicated. You also need Audioshare for it to work.

Now that Gadget supports the Files app you can find your projects there and copy them to Audioshare. Then, in Audioshare, you'll see your project listed as a folder (which it essentially is). Long press the folder name until the menu pops and select "Make Zip Archive". You can now share the Zip archive via Audioshare or the Files app.

The receiving party would have to save the project in Audioshare, unzip it and then copy it to Gadget via the Files app.

Keep in mind that any custom samples you used in Bilbao, Abu Dhabi or Vancouver won't be part of the project since Gadget saves them in the root folder, not in the project folder. If you have such samples you should copy and send them using the same technique.

Did you update Gadget to the latest version yet? If not, I’d be curious if the project sharing function still works in the older version, since Alihoopa will still be around for a couple more weeks.

I’ve never actually tried to import projects any other way, so didn’t realize it was a bit of a pain. Thanks to Branis for sharing the helpful tip - that’ll definitely come in handy if I’m able to find any demos and/or get the mac version of gadget.
