My appreciation thread to AURIA PRO!

TL; DR: having an option to go for a new, expensive Pro Tools system for my studio, I just found this gem that adresses all my needs on my iPad Pro!

I bought a 10.5 iPad Pro in September, primarily for drawing/sketching and also for entertaiment on the go (Netflix etc). Obviously, I was drawn to iOS music apps since I have a small studio, and lurking here, installed Garageband, which I found to simplified (but fun to use) and then Cubasis, which was deeper and had the advantage of Cubase export. My main Windows DAW, which I used to use daily on my studio, was Pro Tools M Powered (I know, it’s old) and a lot of Waves plug-ins. And then I read an user (richardyot, if I recall correctly) talking about similarities between a certain Auria Pro application and Pro Tools and decided to buy it.

What a game changer!

Now I can control all my HUI and Mackie old stuff flawlessly from my iPad, and have editing capabilities even more powerful than my old PT MP. And then I found the plug-ins I always lusted for, but never had the money to buy, for a very advantageous price in comparison to Windows: I’m talking about the FAB FILTERS.

That was a great boost in my studio, since the iPad performs better than my old Windows machine, and it’s far cheaper than a new PT system and powerful enough to do everything I want and more - it has even transient-based quantizing! With the money I saved, I bought an used multichannel interface that works flawlessly with Auria (but needs my Windows PC to get configured, so I am keeping it around). I am now so happy!

Thank you richardyot and thank you Auria for a great product!

Merry Christmas all.

  • Glad I could help :)

Auria Pro is indeed awesome, my favourite of all the iOS DAWs, but I also enjoy using Cubasis, NS2, GarageBand, Gadget and BM3. They all have their place in my workflow, but in the end everything goes to Auria, so it acts like the hub of my iOS music experience.

  • Totally agree that Auria Pro and the Fabfilter plugins are awesome! Enjoy!! & of course merry everyone too!! 🎉🎁🎉

  • Never found a better app for mastering. And I am pretty sure I will still be using it for years. Merry Xmas all!

  • 100% agree, and honestly Auria is my favorite daw even if I don’t use any Fabfilter at all. The PSP default stuff is great, the smooth automation, the free Salamander Piano, the great ChannelStrip, saving presets, etc!!!

  • Despite the quirks of Auria's midi editing, it is also quite a MIDI sequencer with better resolution and playback solidity than some popular DAWs. Groove quantize is a very cool feature.

I can see why some people balk at it. A few refinements to the piano roll editing conventions and the ability to hide unused mixing board subs would probably go a long way in making it more appealing.

  • Auria is fantastic! I use it for all of my music production.

  • And with great results - it's always a pleasure to listen to your tracks...
I also just bow to that amount of creativity B)

  • It's not the prettiest DAW on the iPad, but for me it's the best feature wise, and I'm very comfortable using it as an audio editor.

    Thank you so much!

  • Auria Pro is the iOS version of Pro Tools in my opinion. I wish it had keyboard shortcuts tho. That would be a killer feature and would help me when doing post production on video projects. The AAF import feature is amazing too

  • happy new year all!

  • There was a period of four months earlier in the year where I was completing one track a week as a personal challenge. (www.weeklybeats.com) with that schedule, I found that I really needed to start and finish all in the same environment, with no time to be futzing around bolting things together. Auria Pro was the only environment that had everything I needed for every situation. The more I worked with it the more I appreciated it. And that was even without the Fab Filter plugins, which I do not own or feel the need for.

    It’s an amazing accomplishment.
