KB-1
Why is it that the majority of my synth apps don’t work in KB-1, the only apps that will play are Synth Master Player, Unique, Mood, Argon, LayR and Magellan. The other 27 will not work with KB-1, what am l doing wrong?

It would be helpful to know what apps aren't working. What OS you are running and what steps you took to connect the apps.
Also did you remember to turn on background audio in the apps?
hmm, ive had no connectivity issues with kb1
I am using IOS 12, the apps some of the apps that are not working Poison 202, iVCS3, Sunrizer, Model D, Animoog, Digital 1, I Mono/Poly, Model 15, IMS - 20 and others. To connect a app, l opened a app say Sunrizer then closed it so it was running in the background, then opened KB-1 pressed the “output” key this brings up the menu of the apps running in the background, select Sunrizer but when you press a key no sound comes? I will take a look at your ideas, many thanks.
Some of the apps may need you to select the KB-1 as the source and may not work if you simply send to them. Also, make sure to check what MIDI channel they are listening to. If they aren't set to OMNI, you'll need to set the channel in both so that they are the same.
I am running 11.4.1 and just did a quick test with Sunrizer and Animoog and both worked fine.
My steps sound the same as yours:
If you haven't done so, you might power-cycle the iPad, too.
There is a bit more to it than you describe.
I just hooked KB-1 to Sunrizer and it works fine.
Open SR and make sure you turn background audio on (upper left corner in SR). Don’t quit SR but hit the home button to make SR go to the background.
Open KB-1 add a keyboard and select Output Device at the top and you should see SR as option so select it. The channel in KB-1 defaults to MPE so select channel 1 or whatever midi channel SR is set to listen to). Play the keys and SR should sound.
Every synth is different so you have to play around and figure out how to get things to work (background audio, midi settings/channels).
It sounds like you’ve been lucky and gotten a few synths to work easily but sometimes it takes digging deeper.
Many thanks for your ideas and help it’s appreciated, l will give it a go this afternoon as l have to go to work.
May sound silly, but do the others have „enable background audio“ switched on?
If you not working in an host like aum ns2 Ir beatmaker or so, the apps you want to control need to have this option enabled
The main problem was my fault, l was not enabling the background audio, my defence is that l didn’t know about this until now, many thanks for your help, it’s much appreciated, happy new year to you all.
Just a small suggestion - if you get AudioBus and load everything in there, it takes care of most those details for you, as well as giving you a more convenient way to switch between apps, global tempo control, and start / stop for most apps. Plus you can save sessions and many apps will simply load all connected just as you left them. It’s a wonderful addition to making music on iOS.
Thanks wim, l will give that a try.
