Interface for bias

I initially bought bias amp and all the addons. I now have a Steinberg ur22 audio interface which is connected via cck. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong bcause I thought it would sound better. Once I had a griffin connect for my interface and it sounded awesome but the distions they sound fake. It just is missing a big something. I have checked levels and everything's no....it's just sounding like trash to me please help

  • What debugging have you done? It is unclear whether you are experiencing problems or not liking the sound of the simulation. It would help us to help you if we had more information about what you have tried and what in particular you are experiencing.

I recommend you do a few things:

    • record your guitar direct from the interface into your preferred recording app without Bias or any effects in the ui i signal path.

    • insert Bias into the signal chain (as an insert effect, for instance). Set Bias to the cleanest factory preset that you can find. Record the same thing you recorded in the first step

    • pick a factory preset along the lines of what you are going for. Record it.
    • Tweak the amp and effects as you would lik and record the same thing.
    • Post a recording or recordings so that we can hear.

Did you use input 2 and press the hi-z button ?
If a mic plugged in delivers the same 'strange' sound, then the interface may not have synced properly to the clock of the iDevice. Check the sample rate on screen in AUM or Audiobus.
Switching the sample rate forward and back often cures such accidental settings.

  • I have an irig HD 2, and I get some great sounds out of Bias. Though, without Bias FX, I don't care for the sounds of "just" Bias Amp. I need it paired with Bias FX to get the distortion sound I need. With the two of them, I haven't been able to beat them yet.

I play through a Pioneer receiver into two KLH stereo speakers. Or, through headphones, and they both sound great. I don't think Bias would sound good into an actual guitar amp from what I've read/heard. Unless you bypass the Amp portion in bias FX. I've seen people post, that Bias or really any of the guitar ios apps sound crappy through an amp? Not sure, because I've never had the need, or urge to play through my amp since getting ios guitar apps. I also use a focusrite interface as well, no issues, great sound.

Like other's have said, more info needed to make a proper diagnosis. :)

  • Keep in mind also that if you have the Lightning to USB3 camera adapter you will get a ground loop when charging the iPad. That will certainly sound "not good."
