Pops with Aparillo & iConnectivity iConnectAUDIO4+

Hello! I love Aparillo's sound...very cool synth! Unfortunately, I'm getting constant pops and blips playing it through my ICA4+. Makes it pretty well unplayable in that configuration. Anyone else experiencing this or have suggestions for a workaround? The pops include the FX trail, so a delay will make it go POP...Pop...pop..., not just a single glitchy pop. This does not happen at all playing through the iPad's speakers or headphones. (Running it on a 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9" with iOS 11.4.1). Help?

Not exactly helpful, but IOS seemed to develope 'clicks and pops' starting with version 9.
At least in older versions I hardly remember any such artefacts.
I'm still running IOS-9 on my Air-2 because there were significant problems with IOS-10/11 and the iCA4+ in the beginning, but later sticked to the old OS to keep 'outdated' apps alive.

The iCA4+ is a more complex interface for it's unique double host feature, so it's more sensitive to OS changes than 'standard' interfaces.
The 1st generation 12.9 iPad has new display handling, so probably both add up to conditions the testers at iConnectivity aren't fully aware of.

But of course you should first check if the same problems show up on other synths with comparable complexity.

  • seems resolved in latest version (12.1.3)

  • Thanks for your thoughts! I'm confident this problem is specific to Aparillo and the interface. It doesn't happen with any other synth or without the ICA4+ hooked up. I reported it to SugarBytes and hope they can provide some guidance. I'll update if so. I might consider an upgrade to iOS12, I guess....

  • This might be a similar issue to Stroke Machine, Wolfram Franke said iCA4 has unusual frame buffer divisions. I must admit though I've not had any problems with Aparillo myself and the ica4. Have you tried changing the ICA4 buffer frames?

  • And double check your sample rate on both the app and iConfig, that they’re the same. But a too-low buffer rate is more likely.

I was going to suggest that as well. I believe the sample rate in the iCA4 overrides anything on the iPad since it is the sound card....
