What does the “Loop the selected region” shortcut do in GarageBand iOS?

Here’s a screenshot. Anyone know what it does? I’ve pressed it, but I see no effect.

  • did you select a section on the timeline ?
(dunno if they mean a selected area at arbitrary position or a 'region', which is a part of audio with begin/end boundary)

  • most likely will turn the region into a loop-able clip which can then be unrolled in the timeline

I suppose that if you select an audio or midi region in arrangement view, it will loop until the section’s end. I don’t have a keyboard, but this option is available under regions pop up.

What they called region is what is most commonly named a part or clip, so that can be confusing.

  • Ah, yes. That sounds right. I was getting excited that maybe we could finally loop a selected region.

That would have been nice. GarageBand is so focused on 'Sections' it sometimes hurts.
Now if I could just make a selection on the time-line and make a 'Section' of it I'd be ok with it.

The only way to 'chop' a long time-line into sections is to select everything, do a cut, create multiple section, select all the sections and the 'paste' everything back...
