Enough with that damn hand clap sound! :D
Ok, I've been around long enough to have suffered with this since it was first heard. I'm also primarily a drummer, so it particularly grates. I'm talking about that pesky Roland 808 hand clap. I've heard what at first seemed like a cool tune or groove, with some nice textures and some obvious effort put into the sounds. Then the damn clap starts in as a snare beat, which to me means the creator took the easy way out when it came time for drum sounds.
Yes, I know it's an "iconic sound" but really, my good people, there are SO many other sounds one can use for a backbeat! Please use your imagination and come up with anything else. Because right now, every time a clap is used a kitten dies.
(Rant, partly in jest, now over)

Agreed! (And thanks for making me laugh).
A good clap needs to be used most judiciously. E.g late in a techno bubbler to up the ante.
Two things I take out in a drum pattern, an all to frequent crash and the damn clap sound.
More cowbell less hand clap
I literally am loling over this post, cuz me and a buddy of mine always cringe and change the song if it contains "the clap"
Let's just replace all claps with cowbells!
We really need better youth education to avoid getting the clap.
Total clap-trap.
Well, at least we know what the sound of one hand clapping is.
@Max23
Ha ha. That was awesome.
2:32 of nothing but claps!
For when you decide that the only thing you like about a song is the claps, now you can get rid of all those other lame noises, and bust some pure clap jams.
Process it until it no longer sounds like “the clap”.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
lol
Ha! Those are also the two that I remove. Mercilessly.
Ohhhh I love claps. Finger snaps however....
The British know what's up..
Imagine being on stage rocking like a god and all you can see is a thousand people pretending to be Al Jolson fans!
New Volca model confirmed.
Funny that. I generally hate 808 type drum machine sounds, but then I went and used that hand clap in one of the tracks I wrote this month.... And I am not ashamed. In fact it there's one sound that does need changing it's the kick drum. The hand clap sounds just fine IMO.
I prefer to over use the 909 clap instead 😎

In the trap world, the clap from the Linn drum has become the go to. Or something very similar to it
Shrug, I love the hand clap, very pleasing sound.
Linn clap, detuned, all the way
