For me there’s really too many tracks from too many genres to pick just one, but hey rules is rules! So I choose this haunting little number by CBL

This is my cover with expressive playing. It is a complex and beautiful song with a clever and seamless fusion of 5 different scales/ragas into a single song!! There are a lot of surprise notes and twists in the song:

Suede is back with their greatest album ever. Bands are sometimes like vine.
(I chose one released this year or else there'd be multiple.) Masterpiece of understated pop. The language used during the verses locks you in and makes you think maybe this girl you've just met and are dancing with is not of this earth. Then that wave of the 'mm' and the excellent pre-chorus melody couldn't be more warm and human. Simple instrumentation, some tasteful distortion/noise, and the best background tag ("I've got your honey baby"). It's a grower of a track, and then it hits you just how good it is.
