I would like a new AUM for 2019

No controverse here but I would like to see AUM2 with an improved workflow in order to improve :

  • the speed of construction (for example, if I want to have 5 instances of zeeon, I can specify this and everything is created with one click)
  • the management of my 1 billion app (a good search engine to help me find the right app at the right moment)
  • A way to manage the timelines (for example : a track is starting playing at a specified moment...)

What else

Comments

  • MIDI clock slave synchronisation.
One of the few reasons why I have chosen apeMatrix instead of AUM.

  • Zoom in/out would be nice to avoid endless scrolling...

What I'd really like though is AUM/Brambos for desktop - so I can load all my VST's and play them like my AU's on the iPad.

I believe the dev has said in the past this is not going to happen. Dealing with audio as a midi slave is a nightmare for any software.

Yeah a Windows version would be great and I'd use it a lot. I have Touchable Pro and Soniface on Windows now and prefer them over the ipad versions because you can put them on much bigger touch displays. I think there could be a good future in releasing on both platforms.

Been using the wonderful AUM alot, as many have. Was just thinking it might be nice to have a small channel level strip on the bottom of the screen that when activated can always be seen (not covered up). This would help when one has many different windows open and you want to adjust volume levels.

Is there something like this already? Or a way to make the channel strips “pop up” momentarily without having to move the dozen windows on top? Thanks! 😊

  • All I want is for it to be full screen on the 11” iPad Pro, like Audiobus and Cubasis are..

AUM2 is unlikely, but the update is coming...
Search field is there, with many improvements.
AUM has no timeline, but you can offset loops, if that helps.

From what I gathered it's considered for future updates. But it probably will take some time.

Don't know about zooming, but bookmarks intended to help with scrolling. Also - not in the upcoming update, but high priority - dedicated midi gen/fx slots will reduce the track count significantly.

What I would like to see in the future is opening project in project or project merging, so channel strips, multichannel configurations can be saved as templates and recalled later.
Also sample or msec delay node, to compensate latency and other creative uses.

  • I love Aum!

I’ve asked the dev for showing more channels simultaneously (at least 3) for the iPhone version in landscape mode and he said he was working on updating Aum then. That was a while ago, I guess he’s busy, but that’s the main thing I’d 💖

Also feedback loops would be fun for sound design (eg output from mixer track A feeds back into its own input)

Thanks for reading, wishing everyone a Merry New Year!! 🎉🌈🐉🎈🎛

  • 1- an app bar, always visible, as a “show app window” on top, remembering window size and location.

1.5- Automatic disposition of app windows, or some kind of locking to sides, top, bottom or corners to accelerate layout building.

1.6- multiple desktop, or a scrollable one.

2- mod wheel and pitch wheel on keyboard. And why not an xy pad next to it.

    3- multiple keyboards.

4- direct access to midi matrix, and a live light witnessing midi signal at sources.

5- A new menu page with all received and transmitted ccs from all opened AU that can be linked directly by touching 2.

I like that multiple desktop view idea. That would be great for arranging tracks.

number 4 is in the current beta and makes a huge difference :)

    Great news !

I have never realised that it is possible to offset the loops. Very interesting feature.

I use it all the time now. Record two rhythm loops. Playback the loops and offset one, then merge the two into one new loop.

  • Midi selectable bookmarks would make me happy

  • Please, don't disturb the dev right now. He has to add arpegiator mode in gerstrument pro first! :)

  • A minimize all audio units option, and a maximize, so you can close em all down then reopen up back up after making adjustments to the mixer,..

A play/stop button for each strip

channel duplicator, so often I want 5 sunrizers 😁

  • Really would like a windowing framework to easily have multiple GUI’s at my fingertips and the ability to recall them easily. Also maybe a task bar to swap between apps full screen. AUM is great so these would just be quality of life improvements.

If you mean start/stop for built in file player it's the dot on the left side of the node.

Double tap on the plugin header to switch between full and default size, also reset to default size if plugin was resized previously.

Sure, trying to save touches. Something like buttons in the title bar. Its kind of tied back to my request for a tiling window manager with multiple views and resizable frames etc.

    Ever Audiomulch? http://www.audiomulch.com

  • AUM is the glue to everything I do on iOS. I love it. My only gripe is I’d love to separate midi and audio channels either onto different screens or have the midi device attached to whatever audio channel it’s controlling. Would make it much less cluttered.

  • Would be nice to integrate midi fx au on tracks instead of needing to add the fx as separate tracks that need to be routed. Unless there is already way to do this, I only see midi fx as sources and not effects.

  • I agree that the current way isn't optimal. But I don't think fx slots should/will be used for midi tasks. It would lead to confusion and break from clean UI AUM currently has.
My interpretation of devs comments is that, there will be a single midi "track" which will host all midi related plugins stacked (like audio effects currently) and the user can route anything anywhere.
When AUM was designed/released there were no midi plugins.
The upcoming update will sort out the "behind the scenes" midi handling and after that I guess comes the "fun" part - consistent UI.
