@ElektrikDiva The Manual is built right into the app and is really helpful and intuitive, I’m making a Pre-Release maybe tomorrow or Sunday, but it will mainly be a Preset Demo as there are loads of cool and iconic sounds, plus the ability to fully program the instrument, I don’t think it has the sampler.

Thank you Doug, Happy New Year! Looking forward to your videos on this beastie. Still hoping for the PDF as I seem to do better with it than the in app help. Cheers, Elektrik Diva

I'm fighting the urge to want this simply based on the fact that it's a clone of a vintage synth. I love all these software recreations of vintage gear, but I'm struggling with my "Ooooh - a Synclavier! These cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and now I can have one for $20!" vs the "...but do I actually like the sounds?"

I had this issue with iM1 - bought it thinking it was an awesome vintage synth I needed. Then I realized that those sounds are exactly the sounds I hate most.

I had a similar issue with the Peter Vogel CMI app. Bought it thinking it was one thing, then realized that I wouldn't use most of the tones and that app doesn't play well with others (interconnectivity is a PITA).

My thinking exactly. I so much wanted a Fairlight, so of course wanted the app when I heard about it. Then heard it was not all it was cracked up to be.

Fortunately was never tempted by iM1. I guess the only Korg app I’ve avoided.

  • About a million years ago I was going to open a studio based on either a Fairlight or a Synclavier. I went to New York and got a hands-on demo of the Synclavier. It was loaded up with a bunch of Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson samples (can’t recall which) that had been used on whatever album he was working on at the time. It was very impressive and somewhat overwhelming in what it could do. Ultimately I did not move forward with the project as the stock market went bad and potential investors got cold feet. Maybe I’ll get one now?

Bad stock market, synclavier .... around 1987? Interesting story. I’m all about righting unfulfilled dreams. Get the app. What could it hurt? B)

Yeah I’d say ‘87. Unfulfilled dreams indeed. I would either be very rich or broke now if it had panned out. :D

  • The app is only 31MB so was quite surprised with that with the amount of presets.

  • Looking and sounding like an easy buy from here

  • The app looks French, I thought that Synclavier was American made.

I never owned a Synclavier back in the day, all I could afford was an Akai, but I'll probably pick this app up, just to have the original classic presets that came with the Synclavier.

I also see that they sell a $400 Synclavier knob on their website, which is basically just one big knob. I wonder is that for the app, or for a real Synclavier?

  • Ok - after hearing the sounds in Doug's video, I'm on board.
