MacBook Pro: Play Wav File From Downloads = iTunes Library starts to play after sound ends?

What setting is in need of adjusting?

This started after Mojave.

Super annoying and a simple fix I suppose.

Thanks in advance.

    It plays the "up next"

  • You just need to select which app will handle the *.wav file type...

Do a Command+I on the *.wav file and select an app to handle it...

    ...and click 'Change All'.

You can do this for other filetypes as well to avoid launching iTunes...

    but

    up until lately

In downloads, I could click on a wav, audition it.

Then lately the iTunes library (up next) starts going.

    How to stop that?

As far as I know ’click’ to audtion has never worked, but you can tap ’space’ when a file is selected to play it using spotlight...

For previewing audio files in Finder, even the more exotic ones, I find Audio Ease Snapper very handy. I'm still within the 100 day trial, don't know if I'm going to spend $79 for it tho (mainly because Ableton already supports all major formats in file browser preview).
It can even preview REX files and will always dock to the current Finder window and auto-play when an audio file is selected.

  • Any recommendations for a free player?

it automatically shows you the folders in you/music and you/movies ...
    plays almost anything
it also plays back flash files without the need to install flash ... so no security risk here

I have Twisted Full Mac version I guess I should just use that ......

I liked the instant click listen in the download file until recently having this odd iTunes follow play issue
