  • These are really beautiful compositions Wayne.

  • I bought the Digital versions to download in wave format. I think they'll be good for meditative walks. I have some ambient stuff I like to use and this music has that type of feeling for me. It's also a very calming synth tone.

  • @McDtracy Thank you! Really happy that you like the new sounds. Walking music, I’m into it!

Wayne - I think your compositional skills are very strong. These tracks evolve slowly but with a really strong logical build. Making something that seems to be somewhat random but is really anything but is an art.

Definitely worth the $4 to study for ideas. Minimalism that sustains your interest is so hard to achieve. Not for everyone but
good for anyone interested in composition as an art. I'd love to hear the @LinearLineman improvise over these tracks. I might try that myself.

  • @McDtracy Thank you for the very kinds words. Not to toot my own horn, but I’m feeling very comfortable and confident in my recent work. You seem to understand my musical intention exactly.....classic American minimalism with aspects of deep listening, film score, and ambient thrown in to the mix. Many, many thanks for your time and support.

  • We're both American but I thought Eastern from the first moment. Really at the top of its class. Congrats and I hope your family is okay.

  • @LinearLineman Thanks for the nice words. Started homeschooling my daughter. It has significantly reduced the amount of anxiety in her life and in general she seems like she’s doing better. Also helps hugely to have found good docs for therapy and meds.

Love your playing! I was a performer once upon a time. Not anymore, all my stuff is sequenced. Notice the jealousy and admiration in my voice...

@LinearLineMan - are you up to improvise over the top of one of Wayne's tracks? If you buy the Album (and he accepts $0 customers but asks for $4) you will have the option to download
any of about 8 formats. I went with the Wave files option but there are compressed versions to reduced disk usage. You need to join BandCamp to get the files. I started to join as a Creator and when faced with extra steps I back out and joined as a Fan for free.

I'd like to see how you layer your gifts over Wayne's compositions. Just a thought. I might try it but I can't hope to
have your ear for the right scales, notes and how to respond to his motifs. It would be a treat to hear on many levels. You work best without a drummer and these tracks have that the free rhymic quality of your best works (IMHO).

If Wayne permits I'll provide the file(s) in the size you'd like... bigger files just mean better audio quality without any loss from
    Wayne's Master copies.

  • Very nice compositions, Wayne! It seems I always get an immediate sense of inner calm when I hear your stuff. Minimalism is always something that seems easy on paper but is difficult to do well in practice; you command a good technique in it!

Minimalism is like sculpturing in marble. Start with a big block of 3D notes and just remove the notes that are not part of the finished work you are visualizing.

    Chip-chip-chip.

    Viola! Michelangelo's David.

Avoid too many notes settling upon the correct number in 3 dimensions.

  • @aquasloth @McDtracy Dang y’all, you’re going to give me an ego! Seriously though, thank you for the validation.

We all have ego's. You just need to feed it until it becomes a monster and then you'll interrupt Taylor Swift at the Grammies when she wins an award. Let your beast out.

@LinearLineman took his ego to another forum and (humorously) played the "Ego Maniac" and they didn't get the joke. He's a very funny guy as we all know but they assumed he was in the wrong room.

Keep composing. You're an inspiration to aspire for something better in our work.

  • congrats on release! I always enjoy your stuff - and often find it quite inspiring... but then I go and try to make something in a similar vein (minimal/ambient) and it never quite turns out for me.

  • @Halftone said something similar too this:
I always enjoy Wayne's Music and I try to make something similar and it never quite turns out for me.

Me too. I'd like to understand his process. Does he sketch out some ideas or improvise with a general roadmap in his head?

  • @Halftone You have to sacrifice at the Phillip Glass shrine 😉🤣

That's a clue right there. Glass composes every note and rehearses ensembles to play them. So, every note is considered.

  • @waynerowand said:
    @McDtracy A lot of both

OK. So, a less OCD Phillip Glass willing to wing some of it.

Melodic minimalism. Composed for a solo Pittsburgh Modular SV1. Sequenced and recorded/ mastered in iOS. Thanks for the ears! Please enjoy!

I stalked you down from the Volante thread...

    Sounds nice!

It sounds to me like what Alessandro Cortini would sound like if you moved his distortion to full dry! :)

Also a bit like Lauria Spiegel's stuff even though the synth/timbre is different.

  • @MonkeyDrummer Awesome! I’ll take that compliment. Especially the bit about Laurie Spiegel! Thanks for the ears!
