Apple - Can you make files app automatic for all apps by default :-)

Imagine that - regardless if devs implement it or not After all its only a file system which Iam sure Apple could make default for all apps - Give your thoughts everyone.

Not recommended -- many apps are probably storing confusing / not-meant-for-end-user-consumption data in Documents (even though most of it should be stored in Application Support, but very probably not all developers are doing it correctly). Also, many will not be prepared for unexpected changes to their Documents folder through the Files app.

I'm actually quite happy and surprised Korg opened up the Documents folder of Gadget 'as is' without giving the 'Gadgets' support for sub-folder browsing :) (Ie. put REX files in REX folder, user samples in SAMPLES folder etc.).

Who knows what they are cooking for the next update, sub-folder support would be nice though.
(They already did that for Korg Electribe Wave so it's not 'impossible').

Technically Apple could do it by 'skipping the check' if an app wants to have it's Documents folder exposed...

But after looking at many of the Documents folders with iFunBox it could potentially confuse the end-user as the content of many apps is quite badly organised :D

  • @samu @SevenSystems both valid points Maybe a dev will create a general file system app - it would be a best seller for sure
