PUC is the WiFi type
PUC+ is the Bluetooth LE type
Make sure you get the right one when purchasing.
I have the bluetooth one (the plus). Only light usage, but no glitches or problems with several models of iDevices.
It is an USB midi host too and can be configured via an app to send MIDI out thru the 5-pin; I’ve used like that with a twelvestep USB keyboard and a Minitaur with no bluetooth or computer/phone involved. That worked perfectly except for having to configure the minitaurs LFO to ignore the incoming clock.
The batteries run out very quickly, but it can be powered thru micro-USB and a portable battery, a splitter cable is included for this.
You need an app to configure the single 5-pin midi port to be either out or in, so it isn’t completely standalone. Two ports would have been nice.
Since it runs on batteries it doesn’t depend on the midi device providing enough power to be compatible with it, so it will work when the yamaha and similar interfaces won’t.
The micro-USB port may be a bit fragile, I try to be careful with it.
Thanks guys. I think I’m looking at the BT one. Looks pretty good. Thanks for the tips.
Does the Bluetooth version also works with a usb hub and several usb midi devices?
Check out the Yamaha offerings - MDBT-01 which is the 5 pin DIN and I think the other is something like UD-BT-01 that is USB.
