  • I wouldn't ever delete Nlog Pro...it doesn't take up much space does it?
Don't have Arctic and haven't used Cassini that much yet.

  • I dunno, there have been times when my ears just weren't up to the job...

...like the other day when I needed a screwdriver...

  • It's not just sound that concerns me. Bugs, interoperability (midi, IAA, Audiobus, etc.), RAM/CPU efficiency, developer support, features, etc., etc., etc.. A lot of things come into play. Sound is most important, of course, but my ears can't answer everything, and I'm sure there are many people who might know of a flaw or feature that makes one of these stand out more than another.

  • Delete them all, then after time reinstall the one you miss the most. I've actually done something similar and reload the ones I had deleted as needed.

1.- NLog. Never has crashed and works into the FX Slot (try the flanger).

2.- Cassini. I love playing with the arp, overall.

3.- I'm still with Arktic Keys. I'm "oversynthsaturated", and iSynPoly is waiting...

  • So, it appears that NLog Pro is very stable and has a usable effects section... Good! This thread is very useful! I was leaning toward keeping Cassini, but these are valid points! :-)

So, 2 votes to keep NLog Pro so far.....

  • I am with funjunkie on this one. You can always re-install. I am on a 16 gb iPad mini and have to delete apps frequently because I just can't stop buying the damned things, hahaha! I blame it on Doug from thesoundtestroom!

  • @Audiojunkie You must be really hurting for space. The largest one, Cassini is only 42 mb. NLog would definitely not help, it's only 9.6 mb. I had to make a similar decision last week, and chose a big one to delete. It hurt, but Sampletank had to go, but I recovered 2.1 gig.

  • NLogPro. Size, Stability, purity, 4 OSC + 4 LFO +2 FILT + 4 ENV, comprehensive mod matrix, excellent MIDI, nice assignable performance knobs, recorder can be used as a looper and also be MIDI or Audio; - a classical yet modern subtractive synth.

You have made your choice on what to put in the Effects slot? You can do a lot with NLP's output there.

  • Sampletank is the next big one on my list to go also. I know what you meen, but since I just got the bs16i I find myself using it much more. Im on a 16 gb pad so I have to cut corners. Heck , I could not instal ios 7 even iff I did want to.hahaha!

  • Yes, I'm really hurting for space! :-) I'm really cleaning house now! It looks like I'll be keeping NLog Pro for now. I deleted several apps, including Cassini and Arctic Synth Pro. I'm not ready to give up Sampletank yet. :-) I am thinking of deleting DrumJam, but really don't want to....

  • Solution, save up for a new 128gb iPad air. That's what I'm currently doing. :P Also, after that, purchase Thor! As far as your list, nLog is the best of the three. Both a synth and effects unit.

  • Oh, I already have Thor, along with most everything else. ;-) I too am saving, but probably won't be getting a replacement until late next year (if more RAM is added), otherwise, I'll replace things when this one dies...

  • I'll probably be asking for more input as I further trim the fat. I've always thought Cassini was thought of more highly of the three, so it was interesting to see everyone's input! :-)

  • By the way, if I have Turnado, is there enough overlap in it to cover what GlitchBreaks does, or are they unique enough that I should keep GlitchBreaks?

  • If you don't know, delete glitchbreaks for now.

  • cassini vs nlog: which one do you use more right now? If neither, delete 'em both. More room for music recordings.

  • Good advice @syrupcore! :-) Yet, I'd still like to get everyone's opinion, since I haven't had the time to learn either very well... :-)

  • I went back and made some hard decisions. I deleted all three apps (and then several others as well), and now have 4.7 Gb of space. I am aiming for 5 GB free. I'll see if PhoneClean can get me the rest of the way. :-)

I get this one when it was free, and works fine:

NOTE: at 97% or so, it ALWAYS sends a warning: "you're close to out of free space..." Ignore it.

iDelete is no longer available on iOS. Removed by Apple (scroll to the bottom of the page in that link)

@Audiojunkie, I'm in the same overloaded boat. Constantly on the lookout for apps that might be deleted because some other app has the same or better functionality...which means I regularly delete apps purchased some time ago but that have since been superseded by better apps, even if it is with some regret...and have to decline on apps that I would have wanted, but that simply take up too much space (NeoSoul Keys being one recent example).

  • I end up using iFunbox to clean out various apps. I also cycle through a number of apps, deleting those I less frequently use, and often reinstalling them later if I have a particular need or the've been updated.

  • Update: I have All of my essential apps, and 5.2 GB of space. All in all, a pretty good deal! PhoneClean does a really good job of cleaning out the junk, but it is no longer free for basic cleaning (thank goodness I have an old version!).

Now to get AUFX PeakQ in the half-off sale!!!! :-)

    .....I'm pathetic!
