He really is one of my heros - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_Palm
His innovations in the eighties are nothing short of breathtaking.
And our common hero Trent Reznor is a big fan too - http://nothing.nin.net/int6.html
The extend stage option in WaveMapper is amazingly useful. At first I thought there was a bug because I couldn't access the programs on the extended stage, then I found the the reduce stage option. The more I play with this, the more I realize the effort and thought that went into creating this.
Holy crap Jon.. I had no idea about PPG.. That'll teach me to never pay attention to anything but the music. lol I think in the back of my mind I always thought the Japanese were responsible for all that. Although the first ever synth was created by a canadian guy who called it "the touch sensitive organ" which had to be renamed for obvious reasons.. LOL He was partners with Moog, who turned the synths into something people could actually buy. But yeah, I am notorious for ignoring people involved in creating things I love.. Someone (like you) pretty much has to take me by the hand and say "Look at what this guy has done!". lol Thanks!
Also that trent reznor info is just awesome too I skimmed it and saw quite a bit of "so that's how he did that" type info. Nice. Bookmarked. Thanks!
A little follow up... Been playing with WaveMapper, importing my own samples. Holy crap. Pretty awesome. Not sure if there is a way for us to share presets with each other but if there is we should start a preset sharing group of somekind... Anyone interested?
how long are the samples you're importing?
Short. WaveMapper won't let you import a large sample. The first one i tried was 14 seconds and was rejected.. Been keeping them under 5 seconds since and had no problems. I don't know what the cut off is for length yet, anyone know? it's not in the manual. After you get the sample you want in there, there is just sooo much you can do with it, the TCS is great.. :-)
This is a great library to use with WaveMapper - http://www.galbanum.com/products/architecturewaveforms2010/
Over 25,000 single-cycle waveforms to twist, mix & meld to your hearts content. Such a powerful combination. I use these on with many of my desktop DAW instruments and WaveMapper/WaveGenerator in many ways offer more powerful synthesis options than any of those desktop options.
In combination with iConnectMidi's audio passthrough technology this is serious synthesis technology integrated into the heart of your desktop DAW. Really powerful stuff.
The last thing I need is more samples much less ones I have to pay for. LOL I sampled a couple NiN sounds for one of my patches. Makes for a pretty amazing mutation. :-))
@Ryan
We all keep attempting to make you spend more money!
I just saw that you can access your custom Wavemapper banks in iTunes filesharing. That's a cool feature that would allow us to share our banks.
Currently I'm working on a bank with more "playable" presets, or classic synth type sounds if anyone is interested.
currently the only way to import samples is through iTunes correct? hopefully Wolfgang can implement Audiopaste so I can use my audioshare samples for a quick copy/pasta. so far im really diggin PPG wavemapper.
@AH_MediaDesigns - Do you mean classic PPG sounds or just classic analog synth sounds?
i'm having issues with the following setups:
Musix Pro + Wavemapper > Samplr
Orphion + Wavemapper > Samplr
Wavemapper doesn't seem to play nice with Virtual MIDI recording into Samplr through Audiobus. i've tried to record Wavemapper into Samplr using both Orphion and Musix Pro as Virtual MIDI controllers and get a flat waveform in Samplr. the only one that seems to work is Soundprism.
however, i was able to get Samplr to record audio from Wavemapper using Musix Pro as a Virtual MIDI controller without Audiobus (which kinda defeats the purpose of Audiobus). this is how i got it to work:
wondering if the devs could chime in and possibly see if they can get this setup working. any Audiobus users have luck with the above setups? i'm on an iPad 3 btw.
thanks.
@Grabule Ampkit is on it's way... Don't know about the others.
From what I gather at their forum, it appears that the developer of Nanostudio has no desire to include AB in a future update.
It appears he is working on a new "super secret app" (NS2 ?) but specific information regarding the new app has not been released to the public.
Fingers crossed as NS is a fantastic app IMHO.
I wouldn't say the developer of Nanostudio has no desire. Seems to me that the cost of adding it is particularly high for him (total speculation). Background audio has been requested for years now and that's not happened - certainly not because he doesn't listen to his users. That tells me there's a technical issue with the way NS works that makes that difficult/impossible. Not all code bases are built the same! But that's why you can run 16 edens with effects and automation in NS on an iphone 3gs.
I recognize you as a regular on their forum so I respect what you say. I'm merely a lurker and was only reporting from that stance. No doubt NS has plenty of good things going for it.
Looking forward to what comes next.
You also get free Nano Studio software for pc.
Hi!
I'm new here.
I'm having problems running both WaveMapper and Wave Generator (as well as Grain Science) through Audiobus into Auria. All other apps work fine (lots of them in my iPad 3 iOS 6.1).
When I start WM or WG on Audiobus after have started and configured Auria, Auria just "sleeps". The opposite also happens, when I restart Auria, WM and/or WG "sleeps". No communication and audio.
With Grain Science it's a little different, as it stays "on". But I can only hear it playing when I'm on the Auria screen, when I switch to GS it becomes silent (when I'm in Auria I can hear it playing an automatic arpeggio, for example, as I cannot use it keys when I'm not on its screen).
Not sure where the problem is, as all three apps work fine with Loopy HD in the Output Slot, for example. Is it Auria?
Tried BG Audio settings in all apps involved with no results.
Thanks for your help!
Oops, dumb me, forgot to turn Audio Mix in both WaveMapper and Wave Generator
Working ok now.
Now for that Grain Science problem.....
I'm having a problem with Wavemapper, folks. When using the arpeggiator and running WM in the background, the arp resets when I switch back to WM, whether I do it through AB or via iOS. Am I missing something or is this unavoidable? It sure gets in the way of recording...
