Different Drummer Update
Update is on Store.
Looks like some excellent mods. Quick look, gotta go out, so will 'play' with it later.

Been waiting for this!
Indeed! Was reading the upgrade changes list and some great looking new features!
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/different-drummer/id525272276?mt=8
I'm not saying this because of all the discussion about this app recently but this app is really starting to get deep! When did the feature come about with the ability to change wave types and etc on the sliders for note, rest, etc etc (if you tap on the 0.5f, 1.0f, etc before the actual slider). That's crazy
makes the app about 40 times more interesting to me. Sounds like I could get some serious eno never-repeating-ambient-wankery going on with that. True?
Is it possible to use those waves to control external midi CC's?
@syrupcore - yea and that feature is easily accessible on every voice.
Very interesting and when/if people do get the app, it's an app you have to devote some time to in order to understand the whole waveform thing and all the features in general. I can say that even since I bought the app 4 months ago, it has seen several upgrades with great features including several bug fixes.
Someone mentioned it in another thread but I'm starting to wonder if they were right: Different Drummer might be the wrong name for this app, selling it short. I still don't own it but this is starting to look more and more like an 8 channel Thesis type sequencer with drum sounds included. Perhaps DD3 gets a new name?
Cheers @JMSexton. I edited my post while you were typing I think. Was that yes to eno wankery possibilities or MIDI CCs or both?

That's new in this upgrade. I'm loving this update with that feature and IAA!
@syrupcore - Here's what it looks like and both are set to the max but go from auto-16 & auto-127
@funjunkie27 - This? I don't even know how to properly describe that feature to make sense
Yeah...that's what I was referring to @JMSexton. That is tough to describe, so I'm throwing out what's in the user's manual...
When you tap one of the ƒ buttons it brings up the Partial Settings for that slider where you can change the behavior and math as- signed to that partial. The permutations caused by these set- ting are truly astro-
nomical when combined with all the waves.
Use the +/- numerical stepper to precisely change the amplitude of the slider.
Add and Subtract determine whether the amount of the amplitude value is added or subtracted from the total amplitude, essentially flipping the wave vertically at the set frequency.
You can edit the actual ƒ Factor by tapping the ƒ number text field. There is no limit so play around with extreme numbers such as .01 (1/100th fre- quency) or 777, etc. This can have astomishing ef- fects on the pattern.
Shape can be assigned to individual sliders so you can combine different shape types for further ex- treme variations.
To Reset the selected slider to its default values, tap Reset or to reset all sliders at once tap Reset All.
X closes the dialog with no further action and Done will capture the settings.
Each Wave Type has its own set of Wave Partials so this is like adding 7 x 5 x 4 = 140 new parame- ters per voice!
So, somewhere in here there will be π/4 time, Yes?
Downside of update: I can now only run 5 voices on iPad 2 before sound breaks.
Anyone else similar?
@Yan - from app tips "For top audio performance, pause the scrolling note display with the little pause icon at the lower left of the scroller." Tried this?
Thanks - maybe I should read the manual as Ikea suggests ;-).
Now how do I justify my Air?
Just playing around with midi in DD and opened the file in Cubasis. Here's the link, if interested...

I'll see if I can speed up the math some more so it stays smooth in more cases. Great to have such good customers!

Comes up as damaged - can't open the cbp in Cubasis. I'm interested to see, I'm about to buy DD maybe.
@technemedia Now with Custom Wave is the best and powerful drum mangle in the world :-)
Never seen!
Mmmm...I downloaded it myself and it worked fine. Has anyone else tried?
Anyone have tracks/samples showcasing the new capabilities?
Previous tracks have seemed very same-y to me, so I wonder if the current version truly breaks the mold.
Suggestions others have made on different swing per "voice" interest me, as well as other ideas I read in the other thread.
Nothing addresses the "I need a specific fill in pattern right here to tie in with my brass section" situation. It may not be the aim of the app, it's a groove along and noodle over the top kind of app, but I still think it would be useful.
@PaulB - I think the specific patterns are possible at this point, but to get there you need to be very proficient in the app. I'm not there yet.
@AQ808 - I don't have anything yet, but I plan on putting something together.
Here's a short example of what I was able to do....

Yes grid mode almost acts like a sequencer with pitch adjustment and then all the other waves too. You can add/remove notes and quantize to the 32nd across however many measures'for each voice. Add in the other waves that give the groove a different feel with ties, rests, dynamic, and panning. Then the more traditional mode of solely using waves.
Thanks funjunkie27!
I definitely hope to hear some more over time. It still isn't grabbing me yet.
I tend to think it might be too mathematical, predictably so, at this point for me.
I still feel that if I can somehow get kallepa to get some midi out running out of Figure, I'd be happier with that.
I had the swing at approx 20%, so at the higher settings it should be less precise.
Made a piece in 5/4 to see if I could.
It's very simple, but in raw form sounds just as if the player has no sense of rhythm. So I spent quite some time manipulating all the "dials" to get something with more interesting rhythm.
Here is the 5/4 piece followed by the same piece converted to 4/4. It's rough and not edited much.
