Excellent
You tease!! How soon is early 2014?
Will the Audiobus side panel/menu change design from Skeumorphic to match the main UI ?
Thanks, I just learnt a new word

It's probably going to receive an overhaul.

How long a wait for this update

We can't be really specific about this yet because we're working together with other third party devs to introduce a yet undisclosed feature and we're not sure when their apps are going to be updated.

We're going to reveal that later. It's not going to be expensive.
Any feedback on how many apps you've been able to stack on in the effects slot on older iPads (iPad 2)?
And the iPad Air/iPad Mini 2 lust grows exponentially… :-)
It's not the number of apps. It's about how much RAM/CPU each of them consumes.

Yes, true… I should have worded the ? better. Was fishing around for a rough idea of how much it can handle (in testing, a,b,c,d,x,y,and z effects are all playing together happily, for example, giving a total of 7 effects simultaneously on an iPad 2. Well, one can dream :-)
In any case, this functionality will be a big improvement. Looking forward to it!
This is like waiting for my favorite bands new record to come out when I was a teen, only now, the record I'm waiting for is the one I'm going to make with AB2. So. Stoked.
You simply can't go bonkers with an iPad 2 and open up 4 or 5 apps and expect them to work flawlessly.
BUT...
We're going to introduce another feature Audiobus 2 that is still going to be useful no matter which device you're using. Stay tuned.

That's lovely

And this is another reason to pick up some lightweight effects apps, I would imagine 3 or 4 AUFX apps would do fine on an iPad 2 with synth and drum machine inputs and a lightweight recording output like Loopy or AudioShare.
This looks really great, Sebastian, I'm very excited to see the possibilities.
This video just sold a gang of aufx apps, I'm guessing. I bit. Can't wait!

Uh-oh… Hope I didn't set off an infinite loop… :-)
Fair enough, @Sebastian. Thanks for the extra info!
So, maybe here is a question that Sebastian can answer: how much RAM/CPU does AB2 itself consume when running multiple paths?
Essentially, I can currently have 4-5 smaller apps going on an IPad 2. Will I be able to run those same apps into multiple Audiobus 2 effects paths?
Will AB2 show Memory / CPU meters? It will give an estimation when the juice is about to end... Captain Kirk: Scotty give me more juice. Scotty: The ship can't handle it. The core is running 100%.
WANT.
Are apps no longer automatically switched to when loaded onto the bus or was it because those apps were already running or...?
Or is it using IAA where they get stuck in the back ground ?

No.
