Nice helpful video. Question about KB1, since you brought it up. You say ScaleBud does "half of what KB1 does." Does KB1 offer scales and chords like this? Is it as easy to use?
Yes KB1 can do everything this can do but extras like different keyboards layouts a little different too
Ah, thanks. I remember there was a problem with KB1 and Cubasis? Any idea if that's fixed?
not sure I need to get that app too
anyone compared this with KB1?
At the moment, in chord mode, KB-1 can only do triads (and inversions by using the 3 layered keyboard layout) by pressing a single key. ScaleBud has the ability to play extended chords (7,9,11,13ths) with inversions, with a single key press. That's a pretty big difference right there. I don't own ScaleBud yet, but the extended chords would be the reason that I would get it. Doesn't really make sense to compare them. One is meant to be a keyboard app and the other is meant to be a scale/chord app. Of course KB-1's chord mode could be updated at some point but for now, ScaleBud can do more chords (by single key press) out of the box.
For me, KB-1 is great for MPE support and it has a good variety of useful layouts. The scales and chords are great to have, but really are a secondary feature of this app.
ScaleBud is great for scales and chords, but is more basic in the layout choices. I don’t think it does MPE, but it does function as an AU midi note filter (as in, it can quantize midi note input to a scale and send that out to your sound app).
Yeah I used to shove everything through Roseta Scalar now I use ScaleBud unless I need to take the signal and pitch it up or down by chordal intervals or change its octave
I see Im going to have to get Kb1 as well I just didn't see videos on Scalebud thought I would put my 2 cents in lol
@Shazamm Thank you for the video.. it's great to highlight apps that are flying a bit under the radar. More exposure to more people is always a good thing. I don't even know if there is a video that really highlights the chord mode on ScaleBud. I know I will be picking it up soon because of your video, so thanks for that. KB-1 really is great for the many different layouts and the MPE support. Part of the iOS toolkit for sure.
thanks and s thats dope its very cool tool
^^^^^dope, I might have to check this out
