I recently watched “Paris, Texas” with my son, who has so far surpassed his father as a guitar player that it is no longer even humiliating. He was obsessed with Ry Cooder’s soundtrack. And the movie is staggering. “I knew these people...these two people....”
Wow.
I just sadly realized that overheating ipad issues still with Gadget 2
While waiting for the two new Gadgets to drop Instead of AAS (The app version of GAS) I fell 'victim' for GAS and got me a Volca Drum and man, that one would be awesome as a Gadget, It's like iElectribe/ER-1 and Gadget Tokyo on 'roids'
I'm honestly happy they didn't have the Minilogue XD in the store as I would likely get severe GAS one that one...
I take Pepto Bismol for my GAS syndrome.
Completely agree. I've got my fingers crossed that the drum gadget that's coming will have the Volca DNA.
Volca Drum is 'loonie town' in a good way
(Not my video but it's easy to get totally carried away with it).
Yep
I also see the battery drain in YouTube vids of others using Gadget
New update:
• Improves “Note Event Edit” view
• Taipei gadget can be switched to another synth gadget
• Unwanted parameters no longer sent from Taipei when you change its programs.
• Other improvements and bug-fixes.
@Samu:
Have you tried one Recife/London/Tokyo instance per drum and adding the Comb Filter, RingMod and and Talk Mod effects?
And if that's not enough, add five track fx (phaser, flanger without modulation)?
White notes are now dimmed down when selected. Great!
And many thanks @davis_korgrd for taking our input for improving Gadget 2
Yepp! I’m mainly after the cabinet/speaker emulations that are present in the audio gadgets.
Also wish that the ‘Apollo’ reverb from Vancouver could be added to any track if needed
Still missing numerical and visual feedback when editing automation, especially when trying to accurately automate sample start in Vancouver or doing ‘full wave snapshots’ per step in Kamata.
Most of this could be solved with improved step-recording.
Meaning as long as ‘record’ is enabled all parameters would be recorded/snapshotted to the current step and then one could advance or select to the next step to edit.
The above step sequence/record suggestion has been sent long time to the korgforum but I may refine it and send another request now since the korgforum will shut down soon...
If @davis_korgrd bumps into this messages i’d be super happy if the step-recording improvements would pop up on the discussion table at some point
Hope the two new Gadgets drop soon too...
+1 +1 +1
This would be so helpful in every gadget!
The scene name is now visible even on the yellow "progress" background! Thanks Korg
Aren't these the new KONG physical drums (Texas) and NN-XT sampler gadgets (Paris)?
Thank you @davis_korgrd for listening to our inputs.
😀👍
+1 On making Rosario & Durban effects available for all gadgets.
The ‘Riser’ feedback-reverb in IFX is somewhat similar to ‘Apollo’.
Interestingly, these Feedback-reverbs are also included on the Minilogue XD:
Great to see the update fixing the edit graphical issues
In the previous version I was getting a bug whereby it was not reliably recording on Zurich audio tracks - it just kept failing to record anything. I hope this is fixed now.
On another note.. have any Gadget V1 Mac users tried downloading the Free Gadget 2.0 Le Mac version? Any ideas what Gadgets are included and what the other limitations are? I'd try it but I'm concerned it might conflict with my existing Gadget V1 install and mess up the authorisation.
Hi all,
I see that Gadget 2 is now on sale at € 21.99 and wondering if is it worth buying it now.
I searched a lot here and there but cannot find out which are are the instruments free inside the app, I mean these that haven't to be purchased inapp.
Please does anyone have a link where I can find out to see if the purchase could be worthwhile without paying more than the € 21.99 for the app itself ???
And do you think that the missing AU support is a big drawback for using it with Audiobus and AUM ???
Actually I'm using Garage Band as DAW and wondering if it is right to considering switching to Gadget would be best. Thinking also to Cubasis but it costs double so not considering at the moment.
Thanks so much there
I know but Apollo sounds a bit more clean and sparkly to my ears
Yepp, and the same effects will also be available in the Nu:Tekt synth which I do plan to get if I can get hold of one...
It has seriously triggered my GAS and it might even make me do some coding at some point
https://www.korg.com/us/products/software/korg_gadget/gadget_collection.php
All gadgets up to Recife are included. Others have * In KORG Gadget 2 for iOS, this gadget is available for purchase within the app in description.
Perhaps first check out the free Gadget LE to see if you like the workflow.
Thanks a lot! I missed the small * in the list .
Maybe it's better to try out the LE version and eventually waiting for a Cubasis 2 sale...
Cheers
Btw, some people just use Gadget for the synths but do their sequencing elsewhere. The Gadget sequencer is for people that like constructing compositions from sections of 16 bars or less.
I use the sequencer for sketching things out or working up short ideas that I complete in a more linear sequencer (Xequence or Auria Pro)
Some like the Gadget sequencer for complete projects.
Thanks for the point, actually I don't think Gadget should be for me: I prefer a more linear DAW and I've already some good synth to play with.
Mainly I'm looking for a good DAW to use instead of GB because it's good indeed but not feeling very well using it.
I know that the DAW search is a long and difficult road, it needs some research and trying: from reading opinions and review I think Cubasis could be the one to go for me, I need to try out the LE version just to test it.
Maybe Xequence too could be interesting but I'm scared it could be too hard to use versus GB, don't know and I think there is no free version to try out.
Anyway the neverending hunt for the perfect DAW for me is started as for all the people here, I think
@Sinthemau : are audio tracks important to you? Or do you mostly do synths/MIDI?
I do not record real instruments, I use only synths at the moment, so NS2 was another option for the very good Obsidian synth, but I don't know very much about its general DAW workflow
NS2 arguably has the best workflow of any iOS app, the sequencer is very nice to use. I certainly prefer it over Cubasis for general editing of the timeline and piano roll.
However Cubasis supports AUv3 MIDI plugins (which NS2 doesn't do fully at this time), so that may affect your decision.
@richardyot
Thanks for the point about the workflow, that is really important to me.
Only I need to understand the AUv3 MIDI plugins limitation how much could affect it: I use a lot e.g. EOS 2 and this could be very bad
EOS 2 is an audio AUv3 plugin, they work without issue
It's MIDI Auv3's that have an issue: you can't record their output to the timeline without a workaroud.
Got it Richard! As I've seen for e.g. Rozeta, you need Midi Tools. Thanks
