Lowest latency app for hosting AU?
Want to use my iPad plugged into a sound card as a live FX processor for hardware, what's the lowest latency host?
AUM?
Audiobus3?
Other..?
Thanks

AUM does not add any additional latency unless you have hosted some effect plugin that introduces latency (which will make AUM do latency compensation as needed). You can tap the DSP% label in AUM to see the actual round-trip latency, which depends on the audio interface used, and buffer size setting.
How can it show the actual round trip ?
You mean the reported round trip dont you ?
The only way to show actual round trip is to set up an input output loop, this takes in to account A/D D/A and any hidden buffers the interface manufacturer has decided not to report to the system (extremely common)
There are apps for testing this on desktop, but not IOS that I am aware of.

you don't need an app for this: just use a track, send it around through the external device and record the returned signal to another track. Measure the offset on the timeline.
You're right, it shows the calculated round trip latency, it doesn't actually measure it in the real world.
Your audio interface, buffer size and sample rate effect latency, not the host
I use an audiofuse and aum, works great, don’t know exact round trip ms, but effects work in real time. It’s low enough latency to where I can’t hear any at all. In windows it’s 6ms round trip.
Roundtrip on the Audiofuse is 12ms on Windows and 5.6ms on Mac, that is actual, not reported.
Thanks All 👍 AUM is the one I'll get
