Maybe just append ‘rock’ to your search term, if that is what you are looking for.
Like Hendrix or Pink Floyd, right?
Sometimes ‘Spacerock’ gets good results.
You gotta check this out, if I am understanding your question correctly.

What are they calling electro music these days, as all the searches I do come up with EDM crap?
I believe it is now known as ‘EDM crap’.
😉
Me like!
Me dislike opinions in this thread :) I'm big psychedelic trance fan, this music (not just music but also whole culture, psychedelic decorations and stuff like that) is for me essence of 21' century psychedelic music :)

I have the same problem not knowing what genre label refers to the synth orientated music I like. I prefer natural sounding percussion that complements the other parts. Ambient and soundscape sections are fine, as long as they develop significantly through the track or give way to different material. I like the playing to be expressive and melodic, with variation throughout the track.
Examples would include:
Vangelis - Heaven and Hell, China, Blade Runner soundtrack
Tomita - The Bermuda Triangle, The Firebird, Snowflakes are Dancing, Kosmos
Darryl Way - Concerto for Electric Violin (all the orchestral parts are synths)
Tangerine Dream - Rubycon, Phaedra
So what genre is all that stuff?
on the other hand I do love me some Black moth super rainbow

no problem, people musical tastes are very different :))) but problably that album i pasted in second post (Argaman - Living in a Bubble) is better for you ? There is some real deep psychedely withing those tracks ... for me most psychedelic music i ever heard, musically for me masterpiece ...
Here is bandcamp with whole album https://argaman.bandcamp.com/album/living-in-a-bubble
F yeah Vangelis... tomita save my life everyday hmmm genre good question, = good music :)
theme song of my life with my beat machine
hey man I slowed those other two clips you posted down to 0.5 and they sound dope af!!
I'm always surprised at when slowing down and speeding up stuff that I thought I wasn't into and ended up liking it
Years ago for a bit of alternative fun, I’d play standard cassettes in my old Tascam 4 track at parties. It’d play whatever was on side one at double speed on channels 1 and 2, and side two backwards on channels 3 and 4. With some fx, mucking about with the speed knob, creative mixing, the right tape, and a bit of synth from assorted friends you could get a proper trippy jam going. The neighbours loved it too.
There actually exists such subgenre on slower tempo :) Try search on youtube for example for projects "Asura", "Kalya Scintilla", "Radioactive Sandwich", "Sphongle" :-) It's called "psychill", it shares lot of sonic elements with those first 2 videos but it is generally slower, more psychedelic and less "dance-like"
When I think of psychedelic music I think of this kind of stuff. But then, i’m not young.

"Electro crap" Wow !! There's a sweaping statement if ever there was one
I suggest you drop some acid, my friend. Then any music becomes psychedelic. That's how we did it in the sixties. Cause precedes effect especially in this case. Your approach puts it the other way round.😘
HaHa! The specialist doctors i saw yesterday, said my diagnosis of CFS could no longer stand because of previously undisclosed experimentation with LSD in my youth. Very Cuckoos Nest!
Tame impala
one of my favs
I did a remix for a band on Heavenly Recordings a few years back (Temples) which takes a pure psychedelia song and wraps it with chemical beats and tripped out dubby shenanigans. There's other stuff out there that manages to merge psychedelia roots with dancefloor sensibilities without turning it into an EDM frankenstein catastrophe.
I got the Temples commision off the back of a Beatles bootleg I'd released in the noughties.
If you're a psychedelia purist you may hate these dance floor excursions but I reckon they're pretty respectful to the original material. ;)
