Can't decide what synth / effect to get for my birthday
So I have a lot of iOS synths and effects...
I'm waiting for enso tho for sure
But I can't decide what to get next lol...i do not have a lot of the gadget compatible synths.. What I do have is monopoly, Vancouver, Bilbao...
Debating on getting the iwave station or arp odd, but now there is new ones
I make down tempo ambient stuff but love that electric classic synth buzz / grit like in animoog , model d etc and also really huge pads and sound scapes...
Tell me your top 5 synths and or effects to help me pick whether they are gadget or not
Comments
Spacecraft
It’s old but it’s great for ambient pads pads.
Sunrizer, the gift that keeps on giving
Arp Odyssey rules for 'analog synth buzz/grit'. The three different filters allow for some cool pads as well.
Other than that, Zeeon is still the best synth that isn't model 15.
If you haven’t. AD ADVerb2 is an awesome reverb. Love the dark and long preset. So good effect plug !!!
Anything from Audio Damageor Bram Bos you don’t already have. :-)
Or maybe sugar bytes. They also have soon cool stuff.
I'm really considering this even tho I am not sure how much more I wanna buy korg synths that are not auv3, but somehow are inside gadget haha... But I do love gadget at that synth seems bad ass for the grit and ambiance....
But with gadgets midi out now, it is more tempting and that korg sound is always excellent
Happy birthday 🎈
iWavestation is the one that adds the most value to the bunch IMHO because it sounds so different.
Programming it is not everyone's thing though, but with all the sound bank IAPs you already have a fair choice of factory presets.
If you're not sure what to gift to yourself, what about some time instead of money and make more music?
PS: Got Odyssey/Lexington but owning iMonoPoly, Phoenix and iWavestation, I rarely use it because in a musical context, it does not make as much of a sonic difference anymore. And it eats CPU like crazy, plus preset exchange between standalone and Gadget is nonexistent. Add the fact that KORG has not added a single fix/request in the last two years and I wouldn't recommend Odyssey anymore.
Had Korg Oddysey HW.. iOddysey sounds like real thing. That "mojo" is there.. for me most accurate HW emulation on iOS, period.
Happy Birthday @reasOne! D1, SM1.... three ones! Have all three for the price of two!
Ha yes so many 1s 🤣 thank you brother!
Thanks for all your guys recommendations!!!
I can't resist the sale on ims20 and poly six so I'm grabbing those tonight and I want arp odd after watching ambient videos of the real synth on line... But hopefully a sale on it soon, 30$ is moor than I wanna put down considering its not an indie synth dev or auv3 hehe...
Any other ideas I'm still listening!
Also grabbed noir!
Oddysey is killer! you need that in gadget if you don’t already, if it’s on sale then now is the time buddy.
IWAVESTATION I didn’t think I would like a lot at first but I use it a lot more than I expected. You can make some really cool stuff with it.
Recently finally bit on the expensive LayR synth. That’s a crazy one for, sure
Also sugar bytes Aparillo for some more unique sounds and pads
Aparillo
Spacecraft
Odyssei
Model 15
Zeon

Have you got Aphelian? That’s good fun, particularly driving other synths. If you’re a Gadget user, the two Korgs bring a lot to the table, and are great in standalone mode.
Oh ya man I got that immediately haha you've done some nice work with it too
I agree about iWavestation. I have piles of VA iOS synths that I don’t use, but iWavestation keeps giving. Like you said, because it is different. Someone here had a great way of describing it, they said M1 is the 90’s sound, but wavestation is 90’s synthesis. The underlying ideas still seem advanced, compared to analog/subtractive synthesis, and the sounds I get are often quite modern sounding.
Lots of love for iwave station ! That's cool to hear cuz it seems super interesting...
I was thinking with some practice it could sound pretty modern and make some cool original sounds!!! Do some pads , soundscapes and leads, everything, I am going to see if it goes on sale soonish!
