Accessory Not Supported | Top 5 Reasons why this happens and how to Fix | haQ attaQ 314

Yeah, Accessory may not be supported, accessory not available, accessory not certified etc. This Apple iOS error pop up comes with varying messages and usually when trying to connect an external USB Device like sound interfaces, USB microphones and MIDI controllers.

Why does this happen? What’s going on and how do we avoid and or fix it? I’ve done extensive testing over the past seven years and I’ve narrowed down the causes of this error pop up to five things. Check it out!

  • I'd add a number 6: use shorter USB cables.

    I've solved a number of hardware connection issues (not enough power for this device) simply by using a shorter USB cable.

  • Unless your using 20 ft usb cables it’s might’ve been just a bad cable. Rule in my Lab is ‘when in doubt, test the cable out.’
