Recording with cubasis
So I have a Celtic harp and I want to record it and use some virtual synths with it
my problem is that I am almost blind and don’t know where exactly the microphone is on my iPad pro 2018
So the question is a how do I place my harp so the sound gets picked up best?
And b is there a way in Cubase to filter out at least some of the environmental noises ?
I know the ideal thing would be to buy a microphone that only picks up my instrument but I am not a professional musician and don’t make money with it so I don’t have one at the moment

I believe they are near the middle of the top edge, by the front facing camera.
Brusfri is great for getting rid of the environmental noise.
Maybe throw on some headphones and pluck your harp while moving your iPad around to get an idea of a good placement. If it is hard to manage, try to get someone to pluck for you while you zero in on the best placement.
Maybe a picture tells you more than words:

Make sure you place the iPad as close to your harp as possible, also try different playing levels, including softer ones (loudness-wise).
I would try both laying it flat on a table (covering the bottom microphone) and leaving the bottom microphone free.
You can use mic in the stock ear buds that comes with the iPhone and it gives better quality than without an external mic. Of course, you may need the $9 adapter.
Cubasis has a very good ChannelStrip that includes a noise gate as well as bandpass filters. There’s another noise gate effect, and noise gate combined with other effects in the Waves plugin iap. Lots of great options to fine tune your sound, and the iPad microphone should be fine, definitely recommend a quiet place to record of course.
