Drum Apps

Hey guys, new here and first post.

Messing around with JamUp and BIAS for the last month or so, and it's got me wanting to add drums to songs.
Anyone know of an app that's compatible with JamUp and Audiobus that has loops in it for metal and blues?

Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

I use the sessionband rock app for the drums only. I just solo the drum track and they are really good drum grooves. I have not tried it yet myself but they make a blues version also. There are bass guitar and synth keyboard parts also. You can pick all the chord changes styles ect. And set it up how ever you like and it is easy as pie to do..
    Audiobus compatible also!

When I need a drum beat stat, I go to DrumBeats+, hit the random dice till it's good, and play away! And it's AB compatible, and copy paste works like a charm for any daw!

  • I use Drum Loops HD a lot. Great app. It has a free version : Light. So you could try it out for free.

  • Nice, thanks guys. Had a couple people recommend Beatmaker 2, and Derek Buddemeyer's loops. Anyone tried those?

  • Do a search here for Derek and Bias. hes got a few vids where hes rockin away with what i believe are his beats so i think youll like those. beatmaker is my go to drum app but im also a drummer in addition to guitar player so its easy for me to compose drum patterns. However if youre primarily a guitar player and just need something to jam over, there might be an easier option like those mentioned here.

if you dont mind gettin technical, you could import a whole metal song that has a drum only section in the song into beatmaker, audioshare, auria to name a few, trim only that part with the drums and use that as your loop. ive done that in the past in beatmaker while adding kicks and snares to accentuate the drum loop in certain parts.

    good luck

  • I love Drumjam and DM-1 for straightforward drumloops

and more if you dig Google.

Another thing you can do is looking for free MIDI drum tracks and get some apps like DrumStudio or a DAW tha supports MIDI IN as starting point.

MusicStudio, SampleTank includes some drum loops, too.
+1 to Drum Beats+ . I get it when it was free.
DrumJam is, to me, the best to play drum fills live (an soloing, of course!).

  • Here's where you can find a link to Derek's loops that he posted (download from dropbox).

Anyone know if you can rearrange/edit and tweak (velocity) midi in BM2??? My plan is to create drum tracks in bm2, import them as separate tracks into Auria and replace them with drumagog. Just want to be able to control velocity via my midi player pads when playing them or by editing the midi in bm2, is that possible? Looking for a more natural sounding drum. If this isn't possible, is there a better drum sequencing option out there?

  • There will be soon...

Any available details my dear sir?

  • Beta phase imminent. The demos I've heard are pretty convincing. That's all I can really tell you.

  • Sounds great. Do post when it is set free upon the world!

    Are you talking about DrumPerfect?

I don't know much about it, they do have an FB page with info and lots of screens though if anyone wants to look it up (just search DrumPerfect).

  • Yes that's the one. Since there's an FB page (which I hadn't realised) I guess the examples are meant to be listened to.

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Drumperfect/533719970036877?ref=ts&fref=ts

Scroll down a bit and there's some Soundcloud links to stuff created in DrumPerfect.

  • For IOS 7 and no mention of 6.1 support. Dead from the blocks.

  • Only for you... Best get used to it, it'll be happening a lot, I'm afraid.

  • I haven't been able to find DrumPerfect in the App Store.....

No, not only for me. It is for anyone without the space or those of us unwilling to put up with ios 7. I have many other options thankfully. I still have a ton of options available on my PC and hardware recording as well. I am not at all afraid. I lived without IOS for nearly ever and will again if necessary. Windows Touch is going to be another great option in the not so distant future also.
I have already found myself using IOS les and less . It is nice to be able to supplement it with animoog , Nave , ect. .

The conform or forget it attitude in the long run will Kill IOS.

    Wrong thread.

  • Looks like a really good tool and will fill a decent sized gap in IOS music making. Hope it launches asap!

If you're referring to the space needed for dowloading the update, you do get that space back once its been loaded... Correct me if I'm wrong people!

    Hi all,

Development of DrumPerfect is going well. Currently implementing the last few items of the feature list for version 1.0. After that, beta testing will start.

    What I have so far:

    Pattern Editor:

    up to 64 different patterns,
time signature per pattern x/y where x ranges from 1 to 32 and y from 1 to 64,
    BPM per pattern,
subbeat division per beat per pattern,
velocity, probability of occurrence and time shift per stroke,
humanize function which introduces random variation of timing and velocity,
programmable beat grid with stroke select/erase/link,
    pattern copy/paste,
    pattern clear/load/save/saveas in xml format,
    pattern play/stop/loop

    Kit editor:

up to 16 user-loadable kits, each with up to 16 instruments,
    kit clear/load/save/saveas in xml-format,
    instrument rename/copy/paste,
multisampled instruments: up to 16 samples per instrument, divided over low/high velocity and left/right-handed strokes,
    kit volume slider,
    instrument volume slider,
    instrument pan,
lowpass filter per sample per instrument,
mute/solo per instrument and unmute all,
    sample select/erase,
sample import via iTunes file sharing and AudioPaste2

    Song editor:

    song built of pattern/kit events,
    song pattern select/erase/copy/paste/insert,
    song clear/load/save/saveas in xml format,
    song tempo slider,
    song play/stop/rewind

    Other:

    midiclock slave,
real-time audio source via Audiobus and IAA,
pattern/song export to AudioCopy2, SoundCloud, AudioShare, Dropbox

Progress can indeed best be followed on the FB page.

    Best, Marinus

  • Thanks. Amazing specs...Would you clarify the level of subdivision per beat?

  • @Tritonman2 I'm not sure if English is your first language, but when I wrote "I'm afraid", I wasn't expressing fear, I was expressing sympathy for your position. There are indeed alternatives to iOS, but I feel I should point out that Windows Touch will only be of use if you actually upgrade to it from Windows 3.1, or whatever you're still hanging on to... :)

  • @funjunkie: Thanks!

@fjcblanco: at the moment up to 16 subbeats per beat. Subdivision can be set for each beat individually.

Pretty great specs. I realize it's early, but what can we expect the price range to be for the app?

@LouDur: TBD once it is ready..

  • Fair enough!
