MultitrackStudio going to iOS but no Audiobus

What do you think about this?

For me is stupid (edit: speaking about no AB)…https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/multitrackstudio-for-ipad/id776998585?ls=1&mt=8

  • Well, apart from the lack of audio connectivity, it looks really good.

Yeah. I like particulary the drum layout. I'll track this. Thanks.

  • First DAW on iOS with a song notes section?

  • Symphonix Evolution?

  • Inter app audio is being worked on.

  • Competition for Auria.
    Good for us :)

  • Had a quick play and I like the MIDI editor - could be just what we have been waiting for although only connects to one network device at a time. Works in background though and has potential.

  • What's the CPU use like?

  • Good question, but since is limited up to 16 tracks and three effect slots per mixer section, must be lighter than Auria.

  • No CPU problems so far using iPad Air but I haven't pushed it too hard. Nice automation options in the editor for way more than volume. Pretty cool.

  • So here we have possibly the slickest MIDI editor available on iOS right now. This app is pretty cool - choose a cc no. draw your line, edit if you need to even delete the whole event and it has undo, choose another cc and SMILE :-)

Is there a screenshot of the arrange window for the audio and midi tracks somewhere? I didn't see any, and nothing in the promo video.

  • This app is top notch - drop some audio in and try the effects, very nice. Now create a mix down and drop that into a new track no need for itunes.

How do you arrange all the audio and midi tracks though? Does it have a conventional arrange window a la every other DAW? Or am I missing something here? :)

  • @ChrisG first, this app just seems so fully fledged. Everything I want to do it seems to be able to do. OK it still needs IAA which is on its way, AB too but once you have loaded it with audio files (iFunbox) just click which ones you want, yes, several at once and it cutely places one on each track. It even creates an audio track for each file.

From there you can create audio tracks alongside MIDI ones (Meteor) and drive built in GM or background audio and virtual MIDI to other apps (only one until IAA). Extremely flexible editing plus cool effects per audio track and master effects.

  • Ok thanks @trueyorky. I still don't get how you're supposed to arrange stuff though. :) But saw in Simons post that there's a free demo, so I'll have a go at that before trying this one out.

  • See what I mean? Cool FX...

  • No probs, we both know you'll end up with this app ;-)

  • Lol. Maybe .

  • @ChrisG Is this what your looking for. This tracks can be expanding for editing.

  • Thanks Morris,i was also curious.Well, not my cup of tea.Don't like the overall look and the arrangement view is too far away from what i'm used to (and like).

  • edited January 2014

Nope. An arrangement view (like in every other single DAW out there), where you can move, copy, paste, arrange, edit etc all the audio and midi clips. I gotta be missing something. But I'll check out that demo though to get an idea how it works.

  • Think of this as 16 linear 'tape' style tracks. You can edit each track individually copy, paste, delete, etc for MIDI or audio and you can also edit at song editor level which effects all tracks to insert / delete bars etc., but this isn't moving clips around Ableton style.

  • It would be very interesting to see Doug take on this one.

  • Maybe not.. Every time Doug demos something I end up spending money :)

  • Actually, that this doesn't have an arrange view but still has visual track editing makes it interesting to me. Like a Mackie HDR thingy. I got more songs finished on my 4 track and digital 8 track than I do in most DAWs.
