Do any of the patterns in the jazz or funk IAPs have Jammability?
Well, many of the patterns in those IAPs have probability strokes, which are drum strokes that can be played with velocity A or velocity B (mostly zero) according to their probability setting. If you turn on JAM! on such patterns, the JAM! slider will globally scale the probability for the probability strokes. In case velocity B is zero for those strokes, the strokes will never be played if the JAM! slider is all the way left, and will always be played if the JAM! slider is all the way right. So, the intensity of the probability strokes can be gradually increased by moving the slider from left to right. This can be done in real-time, e.g. via the JAM! slider in Pattern view, via external midi CC or in a song via JAM! automation.
So, yes, all patterns with probability strokes have “jammability”, just by turning on the JAM! button.
The remapping of instruments/sample groups in JAM! Dynamics can be easily added via “longpress JAM!”; simply add any rules you want to express dynamics with.
Hi @Marinus. Is there any chance of an Orchestral Percussion pack at some point in the future?
Hi @TheOriginalPaulB, interesting idea for sure. One more idea for a new pack on the list @Gilbert.
+1 for Orchestral percussion.
Being a guitarist myself and not a drummer, I can let you know , DPP is not a quick solution
Lumbeat Rock DM - quick solution but not great sounding
GB - Quick and awesome sounding but not easy to move loops in and out , so restricted to GB environment ( one I use most btw)
Session band apps - awesome sounding with very less control ( but easy to move loops). Great for jams
Drum loops HD - give it a listen ( very easy to copy paste)
Beathawk IAP - great samples (so you can use Lumbeat apps to drive it by rearranging pads) ... but a bug is never far away.I have given up on this one
Gladstone - My second favorite
For jams with friends my fav is Funk drummer
Dm1 - Most visually pleasing drum app for me for learning ( not the greatest samples though)
DPP - offers the most control, great samples (ipad only)
Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences @hisdudeness, Very much appreciate it!! 😊
I agree Lumbeat RD is not the best sounding Drummer but easy to use. Here I prefer the Soft Drummer.
I do like the Drummers in GarageBand too but I’m working mostly in AUM, Cubasis or Gadget.
I like the sound of Gladstone, together with the new Drum pads i think it can be good option.
I will checkout also your other suggestions!
Have a beautiful day! 🙏👍
Have you tried sequencing Gladstone using Rock DM ?
No. as you must be aware , gadget drum modules are not exactly General midi, so there is that whole mumbo jumbo of rearranging pads, i tried Lumbeat apps before, much easier doing it in Gadget itself for simple stuff
i do need to mention I have Soft Drummer too, just that I dont find it "soft" enough, if you know what I mean
the one I havent checked out is Drum Session
http://www.sessionbandapp.com/SessionBand_Rock.html
I use this mapping in Rock DM for Gladstone...once you have set it up, save it as a template for easy recall

awesome..
not sure I saw this midi map feature before... dont know how i missed this..
Have fun
unfortunately you cannot share the midimaps between the lumbeat apps, so you’ll have to set it up in each one.
@hisdudeness or anyone else...
Have you tried Xdrummer at all? If so, what are your thoughts?
I have it, I think I grabbed it for free or very cheap in the past few months. I forgot I had it.
Anyway, it has a feature that lets you play into it and it auto selects patterns for you. It worked ok.
But for some reason, this app has a very generic sound to me. These patterns all sound kinda similar, and the samples are decent but lack any liveliness.
It is a strange thing. I don’t have any major complaints about it, but it doesn’t seem to inspire me like the couple of Lumbeat apps I have, or DPP 3 which I have had for a couple of days now.
But Xdrummer is pretty quick to get some basic drum tracks going. It is certainly easy to use, and seems good for preliminary song writing of composing. It doesn’t get mentioned often in these discussions, though.
That’s a great Tipp! Thanks a lot @AndyPlankton !
I will check it out too. Does RD write the midi into the Gadget Sequenzer? That would be great! 😊
You can record the midi into Gadget from RD
Unless I’m blind .. I don’t see this on funk drummer which i use a lot .. it’s on rock drummer only .... which I jut redownloaded ...time to copy your map 😉
No I haven’t .. DPP is the only IPAD only drum app I have
It’s in Funk Drummer too. Just press the midi icon, next to Link
It’s also possible to record the midi output from Rock Drummer, Funk Drummer, etc into Drum Perfect Pro patterns, then enhance them with DPP’s excellent tools. I haven’t done this for some time, but can be a good jump-start for DPP programming (in addition to DPP’s included and IAP patterns).
That would be an excellent video to learn from
Humm ... I might think about that one. My videos are boring though. We need to get one of the pros interested.
thanks I found this on Rock DM but not on Funk DM on my phone, weird..., you have a screenshot? ill check on IPAD later,
Ahh, on the iPhone there is an extra step. After the midi icon, click on midi notes.
Figured out the confusion ...looks like only the iPad versions have the ability to save MIDI map “presets “
so the sale of DPP3 is to saturday 23th of march?
First of a series of videos on the packs content/demos.
Import of the Player dont works
Anyone else finding lots of UI latency? iPad pro, but still... tap a button, wait 15 seconds, it might react. Sometimes reacts 15 times for each impatient tap? Confusing. DSP % looks fine.
(Also, ashamed, it's hard to find "new track" -- I think you have to open an existing song and save as new?
Yes it does.
Did you follow the directions here?
