Question about discounts
Ok, so got some questions about discounts. As an appoholic i luv them, wait for, and explore them with my little plasticky credit card. BUT, some of them nicest ones, like Alchemy which I adore, have inapp purch. obviously. And here's the question part - are people at Camel audio generous enough to give from time to time a little discount on them bundles? I know IK makes their inapp purch. little less pricey from time to time and I bought some of their stuff. Anyone rememeber camels doing same thing?
Same question about Animoog and Auri inapppurch.
Comments
Auria did have a half price sale on IAPs for one day before Christmas, however I don't think it will happen again for quite a while.
Camel recently DID have a discount on the bundle....
Alchemy's bundle is still 39.99 as of yesterday.
I purchased a lot of Alchemy Mobile in app purchases bit by bit and found it worth the price.
The cool thing about Alchemy Mobile is if you have the VST Alchemy Player on your computer and you buy a sound pack that is normally not included in the app... you can get those sounds on your app. Also... it is great to make a song on your phone (or wherever) and then run the whole thing through the Alchemy Player.
And you really missed the biggest sales of the year... xmas is THE time for music gear and app sales/discounts... but no worries. Just try not to be an appaholic ... yeah I know I'm a hypocrite as I own most of the major ones. But I don't actually use them all. Mostly just to teach and for inspiration. Research and demo (if possible) before you buy and keep it simple. Save some money for proper mixing/mastering programs and live performance gear. Otherwise those apps are toys.
And my two cents... but, the funny thing about apps... is they are really not expensive. Like you can buy hardware for thousands of $$$ or an app for $20-100. So yes of course any sale is worth taking, but in reality it is still so cheap musically speaking. That's why it is hilarious when people flip out over bad apps. They will blow money on tv, fast food, or booze, but god forbid an app has a bug!
...Hey, I would complain if my booze didn't work too! (or a bug in my fries!)
.
The sales are great, and +1 for the reasonable pricing of apps versus hardware. On the benefit side, an app is not consumable: if I buy it today I will still have it tomorrow, as opposed to that soda or candy bar. With most of the quality apps you are interested in, there is a great possibility you can create full recording projects with them. If that's worth it to you, go for it. I haven't seen Animoog IAP's on sale, but they are quite good.
