CPU Load

I'm running an ipad air on ios 7.0.4 and trying to iron out the technical details for a new live set. Primarily, I'm running DM1 and Sunrizer into Loopy. But for the last song of the set, I need to loop a vocal part. Problem is, even with AB running at 512 frames, I'm getting some pretty nasty crackle. The worst is VocalLive, but Amplitube is giving me trouble too. Anything else I should try? Any lighter apps that might do the trick? I've closed all other apps, but it doesn't seem to help.

  • Bump. Could really use some help on this one.

  • Hi @MoonWolf,
The only thing I can think of is to try a restart, maybe it helps. Seems funny to me and maybe an app-related problem, since I have setups with Auria (with Saturn running plus Echo plus delay), Loopy, Turnado and TC-11 running smoothly here, on an iPadAir.
Also, try contacting IKMultimedia about it, maybe they can and will help.
    Good luck and cheers!

  • You should not be running into CPU problems with just 3 apps on an iPad Air. Are you sure there's not something else running in the background that's consuming the rest of the CPU?

  • @sebastian, I'm not completely sure. I'm trying to figure out what might be happening and absolutely need to avoid a reboot live on stage, if at all possible. So, let me provide a little more detail. Earlier in the set, I also have sequenced songs that use Genome, Noisepad and Thor. When I get to the song in question, I double click my home button and close everything except AB, DM1, Sunrizer and whatever I use for the vocals (Vocal Live or Amplitube so far). Make sense?

  • did you have any of those Apps connected via IAA?, sometimes, when not explicitly ejected (from the App that's using them) they keep on running without showing up after doubleclick... .
try to remember the last IAA host you used, open it, and eject possible "bad boys", if appearing.
Or try some kind of App, that shows background processes (there was some thread about those some time ago..., I just don't remember exactly, and never used one myself..)
    good luck

  • Thx, @animal. I'm not making any connections through IAA (on purpose). Just AB and virtual midi in Genome.

  • Have you done a reboot yet? If you're not sure...hold down the home and power buttons until you see the Apple logo on the screen (that takes a few seconds.)

  • It's strange, with my ipad 4 I use to run two synths into turnando into loopy, with DM1 for drums and Thesys into Thor for bass lines without any problem, and I have at least 15% of CPU free, and I record loops without any glitching or stuttering at 256.
Try to close safari and turn off the wi-fi (and the 3G if you have it), or download any memory cleaner app, or try to restore the factory settings.
If you need another app for your vocals, try to download Turnado, it' a great multi-effect app, and seems to be a light app. ;)

  • Thx for the suggestions, guys! Much appreciated. I'm gonna try all of the above and will report back, probably this weekend.
