Favorite / Innovative vocal fx chains??

Greetings friends, your resident weirdo here...

This week I'm trying to cover a couple songs, gonna start with a Pixies cover, but the point here really is:

I'm curious what peoples fave voc effects chains are? I will probably be in Auria Pro, but regardless - tell me how you like to Voc out! Thanks in advance.

Generally I tend to keep it relatively straightforward, with just the basic compression and then reverb (which is almost always Pro C2 and Pro R).

However I do also often add a fake ADT effect using PSP Echo with a very short delay and some wow and flutter to affect the delayed signal.

Occasionally I might add some distortion and filtering, Klevgrand ReAmp is my favourite distortion effect and Pro Q2 is great for filtering (the telephone preset makes a great starting point).

This track has the telephone effect + some FF Saturn on the verse vocals:

This track also has some subtle ReAmp distortion on both the verse and the chorus, it definitely adds something:

Finally double-tracking at least some sections of the song is essential to get a thicker and richer vocal IMO.

  • I should also add that one of my favourite tricks is to use the curves in Pro-R to emphasize the timbre of the vocals.

Thanks!.. I've been subtly using FAC chorus and Pro-R with some decent results, I'll post some of my success's when I find them.
