M-audio oxygen8 v2 and ipad air problems

Hi guys
Have just started delving into the world of iOS music making as I recently purchased an ipad.i used to use the oxygen8 on my laptop with reason and it worked fine.bought myself a lightning to usb camera connection kit and upon attaching the oxygen8 it comes up with not able to use this device as it uses to much power. I'm not planning to use this as my main keyboard as I was looking at purchasing a M audio key station 49 es at a later date but thought I would see if it worked in the meanwhile.now I was reading a few posts and just wondered the best way to solve this.there is mention of power adaptors and powered usb hubs.one other question is there a way of charging your ipad and using your keyboard at the same time?
Cheers
Chris

In order to work straight from the CCK, the device must a.) be class compatible, and b.) not go over the maximum power requirements of USB on the iPad. Powered hubs can get you around the power requirement. However, if the device is not class compatible, you may
have to go a different route, by using a class compatible usb to midi cable.

Does the Oxygen 8 V.2 allow you to run on battery power? If so, you may just need the usb to midi cable.

I personally use an Oxygen 8 v.1 that runs on batteries (or AC adapter), and an M-Audio Uno. It works great for me:

    I hope this helps! :-)

I use a Oxy 8 v2 plugged into a powered USB hub then out of the hub into the cck into ipad mini ios 6. Works great, also allows me to plug in a second MIDI controller, a steinberg cm-pdp drum pad and a m-audio fast track all at the same time

  • Thanks for the replies
If I use a powered hub will this charge the ipad air as well?
    Chris

  • Probably not, unfortunately. The good news is that according to @Breakyoself, the Oxygen 8 V2 IS a class client device! :-)

  • class compliant. :)

  • I suspect the iPad connection only allows the power to flow in one direction at a time.

  • @Phil999 #$%@ spell checker! :-)

  • You know you can turn that off?

  • Then you don't have an excuse though ;-)

  • The keystation 49e will work with the cck with out the need of external power or a hub. It gets enough power from the ipad. I do miss those knobs in the oxygen 8 though.

  • The Oxygen 49 works too, and you can retain the knobs, sliders, etc.

  • I use my oxygen 8 v2 with a powered hub and it works great. If you can find an appropriate 12V power supply for the keyboard it will probably work too, but a powered hub is easier.

  • Oxygen 8 v2 via CCK and powered hub works for me, no issues on iPad mini running iOS 7.0.4. I've never managed to get it to work with a 12V power supply though
