Use Garageband audio output as an audio input for AUM?

Is this possible? I have an iPad Pro running iOS 12.

Garageband doesn't appear as an Inter-App Audio source in AUM, though maybe there is some setting which enables this.

If not, are there any other ways to pipe Garageband output into AUM? I have a feeling that Apple doesn't allow this.

Comments

  • Sorry, no, Apple only allows IAA output, not input. The only way I know of is to send the audio out and back using an audio interface with that capability.

I’m sure others will chime in with interfaces that can work this way.

  • I usually export an audio file from GB and load it into the File Player in AUM.

  • This is easily the worst aspect of GB. I love almost everything else about it.

  • Shame ... I was hoping to feed some of its excellent instruments into AUM in a live performance. Ah well!

  • Has anyone figured out a workaround that doesn’t involve GB mix out and back in to the device?

  • It’s possible with sonobus or transmit Auv3 but this one hasn’t been release for some reason.
For me the best solution remain Neon recorder place it on a GarageBand track record.
Place another Neon on an Aum track. And the record made in Garage band is immediately availability in Aum.

Wow. Never though of that. Probably loopy pro as well.

Any tips on recording in sync?

  • Loopy pro Works too maybe a little immediate you’ll have to reload the song but it works.
To play in sync you’ll have to use Audiobus or another app that receive GarageBand clock ( activate it in settings / advanced ).in Audiobus activate booth midi clock receive and Ableton sync then in AUM activate Ableton Sync too.Hope it’ll help
