Load your own samples in Portable Dandy

I think i saw this app get some enthusiastic attention on the forum recently, i personally love it - more so since the AB support update.. I was recently agreeably surprised to find out (by successfully attempting to do so, on a whim, one time I was using funbox to get samples into some other apps..) it will accept any samples you load into it (you can add as many as you like, it will load upon startup the first x (however number of buttons it has i don't recall) number of files alphabetically) and it accepts practically all formats/sizes except .caf (but nothing will break it, it'll simply skip .caf files). I managed to load a complete 12 min song made on iMS-20 in one slot, and the individual files of a multitrack drum loop + IR file in the remaining slots, loaded it into the input slot of AB, and ran it through Turnado into Auria. Really cool app, light, and simple. Anyway, I just thought i'd mention it since i don't recall seeing any mention of this option in the post i saw it mentione in (on the forum) or in the update text when i updated it. Portable Dandy's currently selling for 0.89 euros

  • This is a strange little app, but I'm glad I picked it up. I'll definitely use it as an effect in some tracks.

Can't think of any other app that gives the flexibility to run multiple samples while speeding/slowing them down on the fly w no glitching or audio dropouts?

Very specific function but done incredibly well.

  • Oh my crap... how I didn't know this I will never forgive myself for. Thanks for the tip!

Hi. I love this kind of apps. Get this one + Physynth + H G Gigger and you got a creepy session.

But looking for more information, I've just discovered this...I don't know if laughing or crying.

Search "Apple Rejects Portable Dandy 1.2"

  • Yeah, it's a wild backstory! They sound like some serious renegades! :-)

  • Lol. By the way, new ideas for gettin' new samples.

  • Speaking of Physynth, we should start a campaign to get it on the Bus!
