Split screen has to be baked in by the dev.
Wish this could be a function of the OS. I realize that making a non-split screen app split screen probably requires more than just drawing the pixels in a part of the screen, but I've always wished that for standalone iPhone-only apps you could rotate the screen on an iPad!
