I just got Axon 2 and loving it so far. Is there a way to stop it from triggering at all when hitting play in AUM if I'm sequencing it with another sequencer? Sometimes I want to do something different but node 0 seems to be always on. Obviously, I can mute it, but then I lose 1 of the 7 available sounds.

In the top toolbar, the is a sync menu (sideways fader icon).
Open that and select Internal Clock.
It only plays when you hit the Axon Play button.
You can also not hit play at all, and trigger Node 0 with a Midi note at whatever timing you want, by playing a KB or using a sequencer.

The sync menu doesn't stop it from playing, it only stops the clock from matching to the host BPM. I just tested it. I know I can not hit play at all, but if I'm using Replicant, AUM has to be running for Replicant to work.

    Not for me.
When I set it to Internal Clock, I can hit play in AUM and Axon does not start.
If I switch it back to Host Sync, Axon starts with the AUM Play button.

And I meant not hit Play in Axon, so its Internal Clock isn’t running at all. Then Node 0 becomes freely triggerable. You can still have AUM running.

That's so friggin' weird. It's working now, but it doesn't work if AUM is playing when I load Axon. Very odd. Thanks!

  • I've got all the AD plugins, but rarely use them. The fx seem fairly stable, but enso, axon, and quanta are all pretty flakey and crash on me too much to want to invest much time in.

Plus, the rude email responses I've gotten when reporting bugs really leaves me cold.

    Bummer.
But I know what you mean.

  • I really like this app, but how the hell does it not have a swing function? What were they thinking?

I’ve always found the way to create connections counter intuitive. Wouldn’t it be more natural to drag and drop from origin to destination? It must just me 🤷‍♂️

I cant get a connection from zero to the second node no matter how hard I try. Ive given up on this one 5 times now, and let’s just make that 6. Neat idea, but it’s bunk and the sounds you can get from it are super limited.

  • IpasOS 17 is out in late 2023. I like drums. I like audio damage. Does this app work reliably. Thanks

  • I think it does? But its quite weird, not the most intuitive, and the sound palette is pretty limited. Everything ends up sounding a bit like 90s idm.
Its a fun experimental thing, especially if you run it through fx or use it to sequence another drum plugin (if thats possible, didn’t try), but… yeah.

It does indeed work as a midi sequencer for external instruments. It’s quite fun.

It works fine for me. Apparently when running multiple instances for long periods in can crash (so I’ve heard) but I haven’t had issues personally.

Yesss ... this looks excellent! Another way to make glitchy beats. Great randomiser! Crashing every few minutes at the moment. But looks like a great update.

  • Anyone try it yet? Did they add swing? What else is new?

I've always had a soft spot for this one.

  • a lot of good ideas have been added ! (but for me the ux isn't very user friendly: everything is too small, including buttons and text.)

  • Yeah it’s definitely a big improvement. Beta is still very much a beta lol but they’re putting in a lot of work on it. Axon is one of my favorites so I was stoked when this was announced.

  • Good to hear this!
