Is there an easy way - via app - to separate a drum MIDI into individual parts?

Title says it all. :)

  • I wish Beatmaker 2 could do this...

  • Derek has multitrack drum parts or loops in his BM 2 kits that might work.

  • I've got those. But I'm working on a MIDI I've exported. It's not impossible just tedious work.

In a Type 1 file individual parts are saved on different tracks within the sequence. In a Type 0 file everything is merged onto a single track. Look for type 1 midi files if you want separation. I believe there is software available for conversion also.
See this article for a more complete explanation.

  • Thanks for that tip. The software I export from will do type 1 I believe.

  • You should be able to use MidiBridge and split the notes to different channels.

  • I forgot about MIDIBridge. Thanks!
