Someone must own one! I would if the price were right.
ya.
work flow is fine by me. resampling is simple
stability is stable
mod options? one basic lfo. can't mod fx but you've got mod fx. lol
samples/kits load up in secs.
what i like.. pads, poly and the non elektron style sequencer -960 ppqn, 999 bars.
fx for x/y are fixed (quite a few to choose from tho). you can use x/y for cc
ipad comes glued to the top of the box.
exporting stems etc seems comprehensive, altho i haven't done it
i'd say if you're player, then yer good to go. if you're a twiddler, i'd get an elektron
This whole sweet world is a matter of players and twiddlers when it comes down to it...
What comes to stability i had it crash on me only once or twice(had it about a year). However 2 updates ago the machine got fucked when updating and now the battery doesent work and neither does it recognize power source either(but still gets power from it, but not battery). This means that i cant update it to get rid of bugs, because you need to have it plugged in to power source when updating.. So i need to send it to service if i want to update or use it with a battery.
I have considered on selling it for quite a while and didnt even use it for a few months prior to reorganizing my setup recently. If i wouldnt need link or want the convience of using bluetooth keyboard, i would likely get some older mpc again or that new push like akai thing i forgot the name of.
The fact that you cant send midi to certain channels on live is a real bummer for many. Basically all midi you send to it is sent to the selected track. This is seriously retarded and not the only stupid thing like this
Mpclive and octatrack are two different machines!
Mpclive has no advanced midi fx or probability, and very little to offer in the sample mangle dept, but is fun to make music with. If you are into straight forward sample chopping and manipulation...it would be hard to beat the mpclive or x. If you are experimental in your music making octa is a better fit! So its a matter of labcoat vs business casual.
Perfect.
And I might add that the Digitakt is more like expensive athleisure.
Hahahaha ! now osc shape will matter!
You can do a lot of sample mangling and what have you on ipad, so its not that big of a deal imo either.
I think the whole elektron vs mpc thing comes down to wether you want a midi/music production center or a more like a performance intrument. Workflow and feature set on these are aimed to different types of musicing. But then again while you could use your ipad to make some stuff you would want out of elentron gear, ipad can also replace everything on mpc if you like more performance type hardware
@JohnnyGoodyear
better to be twiddled than to be played?
@EyeOhEss
enjoy those lovely pads. maybe check out tube digga and mpc head. they both make interesting vids.
Better to play with another than twiddle on one's own?
@JohnnyGoodyear
you need not look further than your thumbs, for they are your twiddle chums
