VOSIS Image and Video Audification/Sonification for iPad
PalmSounds has a link to an interesting new moody noisemaker synth app that uses photos and the iPad camera for input:

No AudioBus, but interesting.
There's also a free Mac desktop version so you can try it out.

Thanks for the post. I tried to implement Audiobus, but VOSIS is very cpu intensive, so it wasn't able to run smoothly with Audiobus' 256 frame buffer requirement. I'm using some pretty expensive filters in the app, but I plan take another stab at some optimization so I can support Audiobus soon.
Hi there. There is a video on YouTube too.
Looks like some great sounds can be created with this. Audiobus support would be very welcome!
Yes I would buy it if it had AB or acp. Otherwise it's just another toy, albeit a very interesting and unusual toy.
I bought this and it is capable of very interesting and cool sounds. If you have a PC or Mac and run a DAW, you can record directly from the app into say Logic. I like this as the photo you upload determines the kinds of sounds you can get. For me, I buy apps with or without Audiobus as the iPad is a giant plugin in my studio arsenal.
Absolutely zero willpower here. I bought it anyway. Sheesh! I need help.
EDIT: Removed my link to the store as Palm Sounds is the original thread. Sorry Simon.
I bought this earlier today, very nice app.
interesting, but not in the slightest sense in any way musically relevant. It makes sounds without much user input, and very similar sounds at that, from what I've heard so far.
Maybe if this had ACP then you could copy the sound to SampleWiz and use the keyboard there to get more muscular variations
Definately needs AudioBus to fit with apps in any way
@vosis surely you can find a way since this will be the most common comment on the AppStore reviews !!
Maybe disable some feature or filters or reduce polyphony when used with AudioBus?
No, don't reduce anything for AB. Use IAA if AB is such a CPU hog. This app is really cool, don't gimp it. Very cinematic/epic sounding thing. If anything, if it does well on the store, expand upon it.
After a brief first couple of tries my first feature request is auto rotate the screen. The camera and the 3.5 plug can be messy to use when locked to one position. Plus in this position your hand is covering the camera really easily (iPad Air, iOS 7.04).
Pleasantly surprised with this after all. I would agree with @ChrisG re rotation. You can get some really impressive soundscapes/atmosheres from it. Would be great to capture the audio, as I do not like being tied to a PC at all. PC to DAW configuration is of no use if I am in the kitchen or elswhere.
In the end no buyers regret $2.00 well spent.
@thinds
Haha...how long did your "standoff" last?
I too hesitated because I've had my eye on the Virtual ANS app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/virtual-ans/id711384847?mt=8) but ended up going with VOSIS. I enjoy the app and look forward to watch its evolution.
@TGiG about 2 hours I think. Somewhat of a personal record. You really need to get Virtual ANS though.
Haha, nice. I think I'll use "peer-pressure" to convince myself to go ahead and get it! I'm sure I will be thanking you!
If you like VOSIS you will love V ANS, excellent for landscapes, drones etc.
@vosis
Please, if VOSIS is too big of a beast to run well under Audiobus, at least give us internal recording and export or preferably IAA. Although @FrankieJay is correct, many of us are trying to get away from relying on a separate DAW.
I'm a sucker for these image as a sound source apps like VOSIS. AB, Audio copy or some other way of exporting performances would be great.
You can have ultimate control with certain images, ie
Click again on Cam button for invert camera
I got about 360 photos or so in the camera roll, but I can't scroll all the way down to the last one after clicking "IMG". Hopefully that's a bug that can be fixed. Or perhaps give the app access to Albums would be more manageable.

love this one myself
@CalCutta thanks
@AfxTwn let me know what you think when you've played with it a bit.
Edit: Some useful vids here

For VOSIS, it works best with pictures that contain light and dark areas (in my experience). By moving the boxes around to these areas, you can get some very different sounds.
