OT: Arturia announces V Collection 7 (with Synthi)

Love this software. A Buchla, and now a Synthi.

  • Mellotron!!

  • Looks like a $299 upgrade price for existing users. On top of the Synthi, they’ve added a Mellotron and a CZ, as well as updating Analog Lab to version 4.

  • I think they made the right choice to go with the Synthi's interface replica, as opposed to the Putney's, it's a much better fit for the computer screen.

  • Ooh, Synthi. Want.

  • Arturia released version 6 in December 2017. This seems early to be charging that much for an upgrade (it is $199 through June 10th). Nice work if they can get it, I guess, but I'll be spending my money on iOS, and waiting out a version or two of Arturia.

  • Tons of people of their FB page upset at the pricing. The big issue is that they sent out a promo email to existing users, stating an upgrade price of $199USD. But, when you log into your account in their site, it shows as $299.

Their Marketing guy is on FB reassuring everyone that it should be $199, and to contact Support if it isn’t, so I suspect that their Support team will be handling a lot of tickets today.

  • I got the cheaper version Analogue Lab 4 update for free today. Great to get these extra synth, organ, synthi, mellotron presets.

Has Concert mode always been there never noticed it before. Impressed with the update.

I’m at work so I haven’t updated yet, but their promo stuff says a new Live mode was added to Analog Lab 4. Perhaps this is that?

  • I really wish they would release more of their synths for ios. Starting with CS80.

  • Arturia have been on fire in recent years, I especially loved the Buchla so if the Synthi matches the quality of that last emulation I’m sold @ $199 for the upgrade. The CZ and Mellotron are a bonus.

I already own a really good VCS3 emulation and for years have owned the Gforce Mellotron, where the tapes have been lovingly recorded so it will be interesting to see Arturia’s take. The CZ is another where I own multiple emulation versions so not sure this new version will bring anything new to the party.

I get the impression that the Synthi will be the star of the show, not sure why, but its the one that could gain most from Arturia’s latest emulation chops.

I hopped on board the V Collection train at V6, and the Buchla was a motivating factor. The other synths are lovely too. And Pigments is outstanding, and their one month free demo and low intro price were well-appreciated.

I suspect that I’ll get this upgrade soon, as the Synthi looks like so much fun. I love iVCS3 on iPad, and Arturia’s emulation of the Synthi looks great as well.

I love Gforce m-tron pro, how does the Arturia mell compare?

I like that the CZ emulation supports sysex import. Looks like a great way to program sounds though I love using Patch Base app with my CZ101. VirtualCZ will always hold special place in my heart for introducing me the wonder of the CZ, but Arturia's looks well done and intuitive.

I haven’t had a chance to demo these yet, but I did see in the promo video for Arturia’s that you can import samples into the Mellotron, and “dirty” them up a bit.

  • Sean I saw that too, I wonder though if it's worth it just for that, thanks for the heads up btw

  • Recently bought V6 so upgrade shows up as $99 for me. Not sure I will buy.
