For all you digital-heads using various IOS apps to create “plate reverb” here is a demo of a REAL one:

Fran is a long time vintage-techie who has also produced some very good hardware guitar effects.

    Great video, although the history she gives is a bit oversimplified: before plates most studios had actual rooms to create reverberation effects, called echo chambers.

    Plates came a bit later, and modern plugins can emulate these pretty well:
