AUv3 for separating stereo channels
Hello
Can anyone recommend an AUv3 capable of isolating left or right channels in a stereo signal? for example if I have drums panned all the way to the right and vocals all the way on left, a plugin that could isolate only the vocal channel in the signal

What is the host?
In AUM you have internal panning sliders and such. That would not need an AUv3.
Maybe more information about the setup?
If you have apeMatrix, it comes with the Mixer Send Receive AUv3 app which can receive an audio signal and route it to one of its internal busses. This would allow you to further process the left and right audio of your original signal independently of one another while providing the option to further process the stereo signal too. The Mixer Send Receive app can be used in other AUv3 hosts.

Can one turn the left or right channel into a mono channel?
The Mixer Send Receive app doesn’t do the conversion to mono though you could process the left and right signal separately. To accomplish this you could use two instances of Mixer Receiver as effects and route them to two different busses. Then take the output of each bus and pan one all the way left and the other all the way right. This wouldn’t make any sense for an app like AUM that already has busses, but for apps like Audiobus 3 it effectively adds this bussing functionality.
Once Audulus gets AUv3, it’d be easy to create patches that convert stereo to mono on the fly with all sorts of options for that or be able to use delay or other effects to create stereo signals from mono ones using minimal DSP processing. Hopefully Audulus 4 which will have this functionality will be released by the end of the year.
I wish there were a simple way on iOS to extract the left or right channel of a stereo file. The desktop version of Twisted Wave lets you do it. But I don't think the iOS version lets you do it directly.
Maybe there is a way that I've overlooked?
Woh that’s incredible thank you for this! So do you mean I could put this send/receive AU on a track within N-Track and that would allow me to pipe that audio to it’s own channel within AUM? It works across different apps to send/receive audio between different app environments?

The Mixer Send Receive app allows you to setup busses within an AUv3 host but not between AUv3 hosts directly. You could host an AUv3 host inside an IAA host which is also an AUv3 host (e.g. host AUM inside Audiobus 3) and route the audio from a Mixer Send Receive bus to the other AUv3 app it’s hosting via IAA or vice versa.
Since N-Track has Audiobus and AUv3 support you could host it and AUM inside Audiobus 3 and route your audio between all three.

I’m a little confused from your explanation but if you could help me understand this would be infinitely appreciated.
I would like to pipe audio from individual tracks within N-Track into individual channels within AUM via Audiobus and Apematrix if necessary~ I have only been able to get N-Track to output its master output via audiobus (no individual tracks) ~~~~would the functionality of these send/receive AUv3s help me to send/receive individual tracks between n-track and aum when configured with audiobus and apematrix or would I be facing the same limitations I am already?
I don’t think that actually works for what the @annahahn is trying to do, which is to have track A, B, and C within N-Track, each outputting on their own AudioBus channel. To do that, with N-Track hosted in Audiobus, you’d have to, load Mixer Send Receive on each track, each assigned to a different bus. Then load three instances of Mixer Send Receive on three different tracks in AudioBus. However, the ones in Audiobus will not receive from the ones in N-Track.
Yes, you can route between hosts in the same host with Mixer Send Receive, but no, you can’t route jump from inside one host to the parent host. Can you? My understanding of iOS, and my quick tests say no.

Do you not have AUM?
AUM has built in stereo processing nodes. You put a balance node and pan it full left or right, then add a stereo to mono node to put the left or right channel back to center.
AUM also does M-S processing (not used, but I assume it's good).
Unfortunately, if N-Track has only one IAA output, you’ll only be able to send out that main output from N-Track to Audiobus or AUM. From its App Store description, N-Track can receive audio on more than one track, then you’d be able to use busses in AUM or the Mixer Send Receive app in Audiobus to send audio to tracks in N-Track to record them. It also sounds like N-Track already has a bus system (n-Track’s group and AUX channels).
Auria Pro and AUM both have multiple input and output of tracks/channels into Audiobus.
apeMatrix has three outputs to Audiobus and can receive up to 16 inputs from Audiobus.
In summary, n-Track could receive audio from Audiobus to record into a track on n-Track but not vice versa unless you soloed tracks and routed the main output from n-Track accordingly. You could perhaps setup MIDI controls which would solo a track and then set the routings appropriately in Audiobus to send the audio for the soloed track where you want it to go. This of course would be different than being able to have multiple tracks being sent simultaneously and routed through Audiobus.
In these setups, the utility of the Mixer Send Receive app is limited to routing the audio received or generated within Audiobus and then routing it out to a track in n-Track.
You are correct in everything you’re saying here. The Mixer Send Receive app would only allow you to route the audio generated or received within Audiobus since Audiobus doesn’t have a bus system. AUM and n-Track already have their own bus system so wouldn’t have any need to use Mixer Send Receive.
AUv3 apps are definitely limited to routing inside their AUv3 host whereas IAA can be use to route audio to and from other IAA/AUv3 hosts. It seems like there would be a way to develop an app only focused on setting up the ability to sync AUv3 instances in different IAA hosts which sync together in terms of their I/O in conjunction with IAA multi I/O. An IAA AUv3 bridge of sorts. Such an app still wouldn’t help in this case until n-Track had multi IAA output.

MIDI was developed by synth manufacturers from different companies who decided to cooperate on developing a standard way of controlling their synths because it would improve the experience of the musicians who used them which would increase their sales too.
Similarly Audiobus, IAA, and AUv3 were created to allow iOS musicians to more easily mix and match the apps they wanted to use in their projects too.
Has it all gone smoothly and are we better off for having people who developed these integrated musical technologies for us?
AudioShare lets you convert a stereo file to a mono file choosing either the left or right channel or a mix. It’d be nice to have some sort of Shortcuts script for this to automate the process.
TwistedWave can convert stereo to audio but gives you no conversion options for how you want to do it.

Mine is ... great ideas of course. Not gonna happen though. But I’m not gonna debate it or insist I’m right because I’d rather not be.
The point I’m trying to make is that even more difficult musical technology tasks have been taken on and solutions were provided because enough people put in the effort to do it. As to whether or not there’s enough interest to implement my suggestions or even if they’re worth implementing is a much more doubtful prospect.

You’re welcome. AudioShare exporting to TwistedWave, doing your fine edits, and then exporting back to AudioShare via the Files app so you can put it in the specific directory of AudioShare you want for storage and/or export to other apps works well.
