Can I play Korg Gadget with an external keyboard?

I used gadget in the past with a sequencer, but I play everything live now, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to play gadget with my keyboard. If it can only be used with a sequencer, it’s completely useless to me. Is there a way to play it through an external keyboard?

  • Easy, in my situation, my keyboard is connected to the iPad via LightningUSB. Load Gadget into an Audiobus slot. Tap the AB Settings > Sync Settings > midi Clock Sync and activate your keyboard or controllers where needed. If you are using Link, in Gadget be sure to highlight the white MIDI button under the instrument channel you want to play. This makes it easy to make a quick sound change, just highlight/select a different instrument. good luck.

  • Yes you can. Connect your keyboard to your iPad (or iPhone), select the channel by pressing the MIDI button in the mixer and that's it.

You can set a more advanced MIDI routing by switching the MIDI input to Advanced in Gadget's settings. That will allow you to choose a MIDI input and channel per track.

In case you don't know how to connect your keyboard to your iPad, you'll need this or this adapter from Apple..
