  • Drum Loops HD is a great product! I suspect this will be a great product too! If I didn't already have DrumJam, I'd be buying this one. :-)

  • I have drumjam but right now I took if off my ipad mini to save space but will try it again with the update. The styles and kits did not really suit my needs but I loved the sound and the concept of drumjam. I don't think the new update for drumjam is going to cover my preferred styles however from the description. I will be trying it once again though.

  • Thanks for heads up on this! I wonder if there's a youtube vid giving some examples?

  • It's pretty good. Works nicely with Drum Loops HD. There's also some Urban Loops and one hit samples.

  • @Tritonman2, what are your preferred styles, out of curiosity? I might be able to better answer whether you'd want to install DrumJam again....

It seemed like an appropriate response to me...

  • Then you perhaps misread also. No big deal though Paul. No harm no foul.

  • I must have misread it too.

  • I am struggling to read or misread it.

Perhaps Tritonman2 has the same reasons as me? I deleted DrumJam as well, even though I think the concept is great too, more interesting than the other drum loops apps.

He doesn't mention his preferred styles, but for me it's the lack of rock, blues and country styles.

Unless there's been a major update, DrumJam is still aimed more at exotic styles from India and Africa and South America. As I understand it, Pete Lockett wants to keep it that way. Still hoping for more support for rock, blues or country styles...

Yes, I agree with mmp, however I did specifically say I planned on trying the new version just to see what I might be able to do with it this time around because I really loved the interface. I already knew what the developer was planning to do as far as styles and mentioned that also. I just wanted to try it again with the update for fun and hey, ya never know. I like many styles and am not closed minded when it comes to trying new and interesting things. As of Wednesday I am going to gain the ability to import my drums from the Korg M-50 and blending the two together could also be interesting. The Korg along with its companion Karma software has some styles that I never would have envisioned myself using at first but have grown to love some of the more exotic textures when combined with the M-50's Pads, Motion and slow synths. The possibilities are nearly endless.

  • I would gladly pay for a whole new app, DrumJamKit (or perhaps DrumKitJam) that is based on DrumJam but filled with regular drumkit grooves. Seperate kick, snare, toms, etc...

Is it possible to somehow get the sounds from the full kits in the lower section to show up to place within the upper pattern section? This would also be helpful in getting a better sound. I have not found a way to use those sounds within the patterns so far other than playing them myself of course. I am certainly not a drummer by any stretch.

  • Because the loops in the upper section are recorded audio performances (vs sequenced patterns) it isn't quite as simple as you might think. That was a design decision made quite early on because the vast majority of Pete's percussion content was better expressed in audio loop form.

I do agree that it would be very handy to integrate some sequenced groove content for the kits to play. I think for the following update (not this imminent one) it will be a priority, along with the ability to record your own pad performances as a sequence for later playback.

I will post in another thread the actual feature list for the upcoming update, so as not to hijack this one any more.
