We've changed the forum search...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Whenever you type something into the search box in the top right you're now going to be redirected to a Google search result that only searches http://forum.audiob.us for the stuff you've been searching for.
After receiving multiple requests to improve the forum search algorithm this seemed to be a good solution.
Cheers,
Sebastian

Thanks - this was driving me mad
Good news!
Yeah!!!
Awesome!!! Thanks!!!
@Sebastian Is it possible to add search functionality to the mobile site? I access the forums quite often via my phone, for instance, and always switch to the full site to access the search function. I know I can go to Google to do some Google-Fu but having a search icon would be really cool! Please?
It would be great if the Google search window opened in a new tab. Otherwise, it can be difficult to keep track of the AudioBus page you're on when you start the search.

Mh... not sure if this is such a good idea. The old search didn't work like that either and new windows might be suppressed or interfere with browsing habbits.

We'll think about it!
If you haven't already checked it out, you might want to play w/ it a little. I think it very well may increase the chances that people stay on your site longer after doing a search.
But, either way, thanks for adding the feature!

You sound like you've got some experience with that. Do you have some numbers or links to research about that? I'd be genuinely interested.
No, I don't have the hard stats on it, sorry. But I think general rule of thumb is the more the user travels away from site during visit, the lower the likelihood that their activities will result in returning at original site during that session.
My thinking is if the original AudioBus page is at least still open in background, then if user gets distracted by Google page and drifts off to somewhere else, they are more likely to come back to open AudioBus tab in background.
Ideally, the search function would remain contained in the AudioBus page, of course.

Please, no new windows. Back button has been a browser feature since Mosaic alpha!
