A few silly (APP) questions / observations, just wondering. LOL!

Why does Beatmaker2 think sunrizer has InterappAudio capabilities? (It even sends you to the AppStore to download it as an IAA app hmm)

Why does the $0.99cent app "FIGURE" by Propellerheads have (1 of, if not) the best sounding audio engine (at least to my ears) out of all of the many apps I've purchased. And how do I get all of my other apps to sound as good and clear and punchy and (...you get the picture) as FIGURE (which for the most part doesn't sound over processed right out the gate). (I'd like to see the behind the scenes fx settings propellerheads lol)

Have a good day everyone!

  • Figure's sound engine is Thor, which is now a full blown app of its own and has tons of presets and sj super capable with several different types of synthesis.

I am not sure about Beatmaker as I do not use it. I got rid of figure because I found the sounds to be terrible and the app was extremely limited compared to many of the others I already had. I think it comes down to a matter of taste and that is more than likely a good thing all the way around. It's that old different strokes thing you know? It keeps us from all sounding the same. I do love Thor, and I think that they are put out by the same company, am I right?

  • @Tritonman2 - yes, the Bass & Lead parts in Figure Are powered by Thor's synthesis engine.

On another note, I think people tend to look at Figure completely wrong and tend to compare it too harshly. It's not meant to be a do it all DAW, or synth or etc. Its 99 cents and meant to be a fun app that makes it easy for people with or without music knowledge to lay down beats or sketches. It is "limited" compared to a full blown synth, but it actually does offer some depth and ability to change each of its sounds/voice in multiple ways. It's a cheap and super fun app!

  • Yes, I have Thor, and it sounds great. But for some reason Figure "sounds" better to me right out the gate. I haven't played too much with Thors settings yet. (btw I'm not saying the others sound bad, I'm just saying I like the way figure sounds better)

@Tritonman2, I hear you, but I'm more so talking about the way the audio engine "sounds" to me, not necessarily the actual presets. I just find the drums especially to be extra hard, and punchy and just "there" which I like (reminds me of my drum machine). As you said, it's all a matter of taste.

  • I love Figure too. It does have a kinda punchier, juicier sound than many more fully featured apps. Great for just messing about on the lav :-)

  • Because of the BM2 IAA silliness I got Sunrizer. Well, it's still a nice synth, even if it has too much reverb in presets :)

You see it really is a matter of preferences , I am more of a thumb twittler / thinker when it comes to all things bathroom! Hehehheh. I find that I stink while trying to do it there.

  • We all stink on the lav. If you don't stink when you're dropping the kids off at the pool, you're doing something wrong. Okay, I'll admit it - I don't spend a lot of time composing on the toilet but every now and then, if I'm in the zone, great things can be accomplished!
