"Lines Of Space" - Twisted downtempo with an edge.

To write this one I used the iPad Air again, along with the following apps: Auria, Audiobus, iElectribe, Electrify NXT, Nave, Alchemy, and iSEM. The guitar parts were recorded with a Taylor 814ce recorded dry into a Lynx Hilo DAC, then effected with Fabfilter’s Timeless2 and Pro-C in Auria. Fabfilter Pro-L in Auria handled all of the “mastering” in this song.

If you have any questions, just let me know! Happy to talk about production techniques in my tracks.

Soundcloud version for those that prefer that:

Nice, the acoustic guitar breakdown to gritty synth was unworldly, great transition. Dig the contrasts going on here. Thumping bass was very rhythmic, had me looking like a bobble head. I'm gonna have to check out that pro-l you mentioned.

  • Nice composition @Tarekith!

  • That was sweeeet! I just wished the middle came sooner!

  • FF Button! :)

  • I noticed you said you were willing to talk about production techniques. With the current sale on fabfilter, I am interested in the ones you credited in your op. This track seems like a near perfect example of how I would like to utilize those add-ons.

Would you give an example of how you routed these (on track, on master, sends). I would like to be more specific with the questions, but am sure I would miss the right ones to ask.

    Thanks

Here's the Auria project if anyone wants to take a look directly:

Pro-C was used on the kick and some of the acoustic guitar parts to tighten those up a little bit, Timeless2 was used on the percussion and cymbal parts to add more movement and depth to them. Pro-Q was the EQ I used to bring more bite out of the loud distorted part, and Pro-L handled the final volume boost for "mastering" purposes.

Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

@Tarekith: Sadly, that link appears to be a "Not Found" dead end :(

EDIT: Ah! 'Twas just a typo. This works:

Many thanks, Tarekith. I know I'll learn a lot studying your work :D

  • Doh, sorry about that!

  • Thanks for the tips. I thought timeless2 was used on the Taylor also though?

  • You're right, I forgot about that one. Sorry!

  • No problem, I liked that guitar piece, it has me interested in that add-on.
