My brother uses an Alesis kit with Garageband and I'm a StudioOne guy, but I spent a lot of time helping him out and we tried MidiBridge and various software like EZDrummer, but latency was always an issue. The best solution we found is to use Soundfont drum kits right in Garageband and create new instruments (drum kits) from the Soundfont kits. There are tons available for free download and using a Soundfont editor like Vienna, you can create your own. Now, some downloaded kits didn't map each sound properly to the Alesis, but all you need to do is open one that does map properly with an editor and copy the settings for mapping and replicate those on other Soundfont kits and resave them. We're getting near zero latency and higher quality sounds than EZDrummer or any module I've heard. The limits are endless, since Soundfonts are just wav files for each drum and if they're sampled at too high a bitrate or frequency range and you get pops/clicks, Garageband allows you to downsample the Soundfont without editing the wav files. I mic'd a friend of mines acoustic kit at 24bit/44k with great mics and clipped the wavs perfectly and made a Soundfont kit that sounds amazing and some others using Massive to make some killer grimey deep dubstep hits. Latency is nil and multiple sound overlaps cause no degradation and he plays fast af. It's a MiniMac from like '09 with the Alesis just passing MIDI triggering.
