It’s snake oil I tell ya.

Seriously though, it activates a “punchy” mode different from the actual hardware.

What are you using it on? I’ll put it on the master bus and dial it in and the music just starts to move, it’s like it goes from being flat to really coming alive

  • your right, its subtle subtle feather dialling this thing is fantastic its no efx its..umm sugar on top :)

  • Still waiting for the new one to drop on iOS.

I gon’t get it too when it came. People on GS was swearing it’s the best itb mastering comp out there, even better then Iron, Pulsar Mu or AA El Ray. As I see now it’s really shine on bus groups and master bus. Very subtle but alive. As for drums I prefer kush ubk/waves api and for bass la3a emulation from overloud. But MDE can do all this stuff pretty well too.

I remember somebody posting a joke video of a sound engineer a/b-ing sounds that were totally indistinguishable. Which is me saying I've seen videos of the Magic Deatheye, but the "magic" of it seems too subtle to detect when listening to YouTube-compressed audio.

    😅👍🏼

Depending on input material of course. Most often it's just 2-3 db of slight compression with medium attack and 2-3 (usually 2) setting on release/time. In some cases D1 or D2 works very well.
If you ask me, main beauty of this things in simplicity. I like Unisum or SPL Iron, but there's to much tweaking. While MDE is fast, direct and sound almost like harware.

  • totally agree on less is more in this case.

  • Is the stereo version out now?

  • Not yet

  • Strange, just got an email from the creator saying it was

  • Huh, they said the iOS version was out? It's not available yet where I am anyway.

  • But desktop is out, so u could sample both this and the older one on desktop and compare them

  • Haven’t touched my pc for music in years ;)

Here’s the email I just received

    Is it only for iPad?
I am on iPhone and I can’t find it in the AppStore.

  • It’s not out for ipad either where i am, so it might just be trickling out slowly worldwide

  • The whole thing is confusing. The site has said it’s been out on all platforms since they posted about the release

Does anybody know how the hidden features will work on iOS?

What do you mean by hidden features?

On pc, Ctrl and low eq activates center bass feature.
Ctrl and high EQ toggles between mid/side/normal.
Ctrl while raising input, lowers output

  • Are there any hidden features for the 1st magic death eye they brought out or only for this new one?@jolico

Good to know about these, thanks.
I think it'll be 1:1 port... so with keyboard attached you're in luck
