Cool. I listened to this artists Jazz album end-to-end and those Saxes, the overly aggressive lead trumpet are weird:

Does the name Cat Anderson resonate with anyone? Lead trumpet for Count Basie and led the charge for the lead trumpet to do overtone yodels... Ah-yee-Ah-yee-Ah-yee.

Not usually used in piano led groups. "Who let the Cat out?"

Then the friggin' drummer mails it in. He won't listen to the groove and they won't fire him. Rock drummer in a jazz setting. It's a machine, folks. Real drummers still need work. Every street corner has one playing those large plastic tubs for cash. They are so good and can't make a buck without begging.

So, I'll queue up this Synth release for the next walk. I'm hoping to see the drummer, sax and trumpet removed from the line up. But changing the piano might diminish my enthusiasm. I'll be here all week. Check back.

The keyboard player is top notch but surrounded by musicians are of much lesser quality. Some great players just can't manage a group. I'm thinking of Morey Saperstein, the best pianist in Columbus, Ohio. Played like the NYC greats but the guys we're Polka Band sidemen. WTF?

I just assumed some greats can't attract the great players to support their vision. In this case I think it's economics. Good sidemen expect top wages and don't show up for "pay me what you feel like I'm worth".

Anyway, the label shows promise with a better A&R department but the artist probably won't sell out for the money and will keep following his muse. If you can filter out the folks trying to run the track there's some solid gold here.

Let me see what this keyboard master improviser does using synths. I'm hoping for some more coherent cultural contexts. I'm not sure the really excellent Synth Improvised album has been created yet. This might be the one. Like I said... all week, folks.

@McDtracy, expect more fake Sax in jazz release #2. New avatar for you to try on: @McTorquemada... it suits you. Ravelry.com (a million Mme DeFarge's and counting) has banned the prez... you could be next... I AM a moderator!

Hey, what fake trumpet? I think this is an example of fake listening!

Sounds like a McDonald's Burrito - "Face the McTorquemada. Expect colon torture. Stay close to public "confessionals". Confess now... You want one. No? Open his mouth."

But, I knead more sweater patterns.

I'm shocked. @Michael must be too busy coding Loopy Masterpiece to manage the forum.

Track #2 has a brass section and Cat's in the lead. Fire the whole brass section. More choirs.
It's like Jazz at the Vatican or the Mormon Tabernacle. (Hey. Great album idea, huh? "Holy Modal MIndscapes" with the London Symphony Chorus. Keep the tenors away from the alcohol. Just sayin'. Lot's of Irish Tenors you know.)

Are you releasing an album a day until the 4th?

@McD, it depends how fast @rs2000 can make the covers. I believe he can now do one in under twelve minutes. Jazz 2, EP, and Modern Classical waiting in the wings. So 21st century!
That leaves one or two piano albums, a contemporary and maybe that new genre...
hodgepodge. After that... only McTorq knows. Oh wait, I do know... continued collaboration with rs2000. Let him do the heavy lifting!😜😂😘

    Nice Coverphoto! 😎
    Congrats for the release @LinearLineman ! 👍

    😊

  • Indeed @chandroji. That is why I am requesting more!

  • I listened to Synthology / Album #2 and it's my favorite collection of your work. It doesn't sound like you.
You really find the heart of a great collection of synths... I could see using this for a lot of walk musical accompaniment.

It does make the walk a bit surreal since there's a lot suspense and mystery in these tracks.

  • Thanks for the compliment (I think!) so, your advice is to eliminate myself from the equation and then all is good? Probably a good idea... strange my philosophy revolves around doing just that!
